FUTA Postgraduate Admission Form 2025/2026 Is Out

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has started accepting applications for its postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year. If you’re planning to further your studies, whether for a diploma, Master’s, or Ph.D., now’s your chance to apply.

Programmes Offered

FUTA is offering the following postgraduate levels:

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
  • Master’s (M.Tech., M.Eng., M.Sc., M.Agric. Tech.)
  • Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

Each programme has its own set of requirements and duration.

Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

To qualify, you need:

  • A first degree with at least Third Class, or
  • An HND with Lower Credit, or
  • Recognised professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA) for Computer Science only

Master’s Programmes

To apply for M.Tech, M.Eng., M.Sc., or related fields, you need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower in a relevant discipline (from FUTA or any recognised university), or
  • An HND (Lower Credit) plus a Postgraduate Diploma (Upper Credit) in a related course

For Engineering, the PGD must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0.

M.Phil.

You need:

  • A good Master’s degree (M.Tech. or equivalent) in the chosen field

Ph.D.

You must have:

  • A Master’s degree with at least 3.50 CGPA or 60% average
  • Other equivalent qualifications approved by FUTA’s Senate

Programme Duration

PGD

  • Full-time: 18 to 24 months
  • Part-time: 18 to 36 months

Master’s

  • Typically 18 to 24 months

M.Phil.

  • Usually 18 to 24 months
  • Possible upgrade to Ph.D. if all conditions are met

Ph.D.

  • Full-time: 36 to 48 months
  • Part-time: 48 to 60 months

Note: O’Level results are no longer required for postgraduate admission.

How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Visit the FUTA official website or ARCSSTEE portal or AFRIGIST portal
  2. Pay through REMITA to the School of Postgraduate Studies
  3. Application fees:
    • Ph.D: ₦20,000
    • Master’s: ₦20,000
    • PGD: ₦20,000

Ph.D. Applicants

Send your research proposal to:

Non-FUTA Graduates

Print the Transcript Label from your application form and ask your previous school to send your transcript directly to:
