Gregory University, Uturu 10th Convocation Ceremony 2025

Gregory University, Uturu (GUU) will hold its 10th Convocation Ceremony from Thursday 11 December to Saturday 13 December 2025.

This event marks ten years of teaching and learning on the Uturu campus and brings students, staff, alumni and friends together. The programme covers a press conference, football match, exhibition, alumni meeting, convocation lecture, drama and music, and the main award of degrees.

Thursday 11 December 2025

This first day sets the tone for the convocation week.

• 10:00 a.m.
  Event: Press Conference by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Cele U. Njoku
  Venue: Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room The Vice Chancellor addresses the media and shares key points about the 10th convocation and the growth of the university over the past ten years.
• 4:00 p.m.
  Event: Final Place Football Match for the 10th Convocation Founder’s Cup
  Venue: GUU Mini Stadium Students and staff can watch the final Founder’s Cup match. It gives the campus a friendly, open setting where teams show skill and fair play on the field.

Friday 12 December 2025

The second day carries exhibitions, alumni engagement and evening events.

• 12:00 p.m.
  Event: Exhibition
  Venue: Amphitheater Rendezvous The exhibition gives space for projects and creative work to be on display. Students can see what their peers have done in different areas of study and campus life.
• 1:00 p.m.
  Event: Alumni Confab
  Venue: Amphitheater Graduates of the university return to share stories and connect with current students. This helps younger students see real paths after school, such as first jobs, youth service and further study.
• 5:00 p.m.
  Event: Convocation Lecture
  Lecturer: Prof. Frances Obafemi
  Venue: Justice Izima Chambers The convocation lecture is led by Prof. Frances Obafemi. The lecture gives graduands and guests a clear message on values, service and learning that can guide them after school.
• 8:00 p.m.
  Event: Documentary Productions of GUU / Drama & Music Night
  Venue: Amphitheater Rendezvous In the evening, the university shares documentary productions about GUU. Drama and music follow, giving a calm and rich close to the day as students perform on stage.

Saturday 13 December 2025

The last day is the main convocation and award day.

• 10:00 a.m.
  Graduands and guests are seated. All invited guests, parents, friends and graduands are expected to be inside the hall and seated at this time.
• 11:00 a.m.
  Academic Procession for:
  • Award of First Degrees and Prizes
  • Conferment of Higher Degrees
  • Goodwill Message by His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
  • Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees on 3 Eminent Personalities
    Venue: Goodluck Jonathan Auditorium
  The academic procession leads staff and graduands into the Goodluck Jonathan Auditorium. Degrees and prizes are given. Higher degrees are conferred. His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi presents a goodwill message. Three eminent persons receive honorary doctorate degrees.
