Apply for NWDC Scholarship 2025/2026: Eligibility, Courses, Deadline

The North-West Development Commission (NWDC) is now accepting applications for its 2025/2026 Foreign Scholarship Programme. If you’re from one of the seven North-West states in Nigeria and meet the academic and age requirements, this could be your chance to study abroad for free. Keep reading to find out how to apply and what you’ll need.

Apply for NWDC 2025/2026 Foreign Scholarship

To apply for the 2025/2026 NWDC Foreign Scholarship, you must be from one of the North-West states of Nigeria. These are:

  • Jigawa
  • Kaduna
  • Kano
  • Katsina
  • Kebbi
  • Sokoto
  • Zamfara

You must prove you are an indigene of one of these states with official LGA and state indigene certificates.

The age limit depends on the level of study:

  • Undergraduate: 22 years or younger
  • Master’s: 35 years or younger
  • PhD: 40 years or younger

Meet the academic requirements for each level

The scholarship is open to three levels of study, with specific qualifications:

  • Undergraduate

    You must have a distinction in three science subjects in your O’Level results and five credits in other subjects, in no more than two sittings.
  • Master’s

    You need a CGPA of 3.8 or above in your Bachelor’s degree.
  • PhD

    You must have a minimum CGPA of 4.0 out of 5.0 in your Master’s degree.

Choose the right course of study

The NWDC scholarship only supports studies in certain fields. Your chosen course must be in one of these:

  • Engineering
  • Medical Sciences
  • Agriculture
  • ICT and Education

Courses outside these areas will not be considered.

Gather all required documents before you apply

You must upload all the documents listed below as part of your application:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Primary School Certificate
  3. Secondary School Certificate (WAEC/NECO)
  4. Bachelor’s Degree Certificate (if applicable)
  5. Master’s Degree Certificate (if applying for PhD)
  6. NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Letter
  7. International Passport
  8. Official Transcript
  9. Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age
  10. LGA and State Indigene Certificates
  11. Letter of Motivation

Make sure all documents are clear, valid, and up to date.

The application is free of charge. Do not pay anyone for forms or processing.

Deadline: 18th May, 2025

Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.
