JUPEB stands for Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board. Long name, simple idea. It’s a one-year pre-degree course designed to help you jump into 200 level at UNIBEN or other universities that accept JUPEB results. And yes, that includes some schools abroad.
Think of it like A-Level but made for Nigerian students. You take classes, write exams and, if you pass well, boom—direct entry admission. No JAMB stress.
What You’ll Be Doing in the Programme

Once you’re in, you’ll pick three subjects that match your future course. For example, if you’re eyeing Medicine, you’re doing Biology, Chemistry and Physics. If it’s Law, then Government, Literature and CRS are your squad.
Each subject is broken into four courses, so you’ll take twelve in total. You’ll also take two general studies courses, one each semester. It’s a lot, yeah, but it’s worth it if you want that 200 level shortcut.
The academic session lasts a full year, split into two semesters. Classes run Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. Non-residential, so if you’re not based in Benin City, plan your stay ahead.
