SystemSpecs Children's Day Essay Competition 2026 opens for Nigerian students

Applications are open for the SystemSpecs Children’s Day Essay Competition 2026.

The competition was introduced to give students across Nigeria a platform to create and share original ideas that can change the country positively through information technology. This Year’s essay theme puts transport at the centre; the task is clear, and the challenge is serious.

Essay topic for 2026

The essay topic is:

“Achieving a Safer and More Effective Transportation System in Nigeria through Information Technology”

This topic asks students to write on how information technology can help make transportation in Nigeria safer and more effective for people and goods across road, rail, air, water, and maritime transport.

What the essay should address

The competition asks students to look beyond physical infrastructure and focus on how digital tools can improve the way transport systems work.

Entries are expected to identify real transport problems Nigerians face each day, such as:

  • accidents
  • congestion
  • cargo loss
  • insecurity in transit
  • poor emergency response
  • lack of safety awareness

Students are to propose practical, technology-driven ideas that fit everyday Nigerian life and can work at scale.

The goal is plain enough; the essay should show how information, data, and digital systems can help people travel more responsibly, help authorities respond better, and help goods move more securely.
