JAMB Result Delay 2026 for Friday UTME Batch

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has apologised for the delay in releasing the results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination held on Friday, 17 April 2026. The Board said the second batch, which had earlier been fixed for Saturday, would now be released on Sunday before nightfall.

That update came after many candidates waited for the promised release and got nothing. By Sunday, the Board had to speak; the silence had already stirred frustration.

Why JAMB delayed the Friday result batch

In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin said the delay happened because the Board’s chief executive was away on an official engagement.

According to the statement, the chief executive would be back in the office on Sunday. JAMB then said the results would be released later that day, before nightfall.

The message was direct enough. The Friday Batch did not come out on Saturday as earlier stated, and the Board moved to explain why.

JAMB apologised to waiting candidates

JAMB said it was sorry for the delay and also apologised to candidates who stayed awake waiting for the release.

That apology matters because the earlier date had already been announced. Once Saturday passed without the results, many candidates were left checking and rechecking for an update.

The first batch had already been released

Before this delay, JAMB had released the first batch of results for candidates who sat for the UTME on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

The Board made 632,788 results available in that earlier release. So, while the Thursday group had access to their scores, the Friday group had to wait longer.

How candidates can check their JAMB results

JAMB advised candidates to check their results through SMS.

SMS method for checking results

Candidates are to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019. The message must be sent with the phone number linked to the candidate’s registration.

That SIM detail is a fixed part of the process; a different line may not work.

What this means for Friday candidates

For candidates who wrote on Friday, 17 April 2026, the Board’s latest position is clear. The second batch was delayed, JAMB has apologised, and the results are expected on Sunday before nightfall.

That is the current line from the examination body, and it gives waiting candidates a new time mark to watch.
