JAMB clarifies "No Result Yet" status for underage UTME candidates

JAMB has explained why some UTME candidates keep seeing the “No Result Yet” message while checking their scores. The board says the status applies to underage candidates whose results are still being withheld; it does not point to a technical problem.

What JAMB said

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said it had received many enquiries from parents over candidates who saw the “No Result Yet” message while trying to check results.

Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesperson, said the message has a clear meaning. He said results for underage candidates have not been released, and when such candidates try to check, the system returns “No Result Yet”.

That clarification came in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Why some candidates are seeing “No Result Yet”

JAMB said the message should not be read as a fault with the result-checking system. The board tied it, plainly, to underage candidates whose scores remain unreleased for now.

That single line answers the question many families have been asking: why is the result still missing after repeated checks? JAMB’s position is that the status is deliberate.

The age rule JAMB cited

JAMB said only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026 are eligible to register for and sit the UTME.

The board also said underage candidates may still come under an exceptional category. For that to happen, they must score 320 and above in the UTME and then record at least 80 per cent in later screening stages.

Benjamin added that, under the agreement reached and endorsed by parents of these underage candidates, only those who score 320 and above will be shortlisted and invited to move to the next stages of screening.

Candidates who pass that stage may then be considered for admission under the exceptional candidates provision. For now, JAMB says, their results remain unreleased.

UTME result release figures mentioned by JAMB

On Tuesday, JAMB released results for the 2026 UTME conducted on 20 April. Readers can see that update in this report on Monday UTME results released by JAMB.

On Sunday, the board also released 1,264,940 results for the examination conducted on Friday and Saturday. That update appears in this report on Friday and Saturday UTME results released by JAMB.

Before Monday, JAMB had earlier released 632,752 results from Thursday’s examination, bringing the total released to 1,897,692.

Concern over delayed results and checking charges

Some candidates had raised concerns over delays in the release of Friday’s UTME results. They said repeated checks came with charges, even after JAMB had given assurance that the results would be released.

The board rejected calls for refunds over those charges. JAMB’s response was that it did not officially announce the release before Sunday.

What this means for affected candidates

For candidates in the underage group, the board’s message is direct: “No Result Yet” means the result has not been released. JAMB says the status is tied to age-based rules already in place, and any further step depends on the score and later screening.
