JABU Registrar Vacancy: Requirements, Application Process and Deadline

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Registrar.

JABU described itself as a faith-based private university. The notice sets out the duties of the office, the required qualifications, the application steps, the service terms, and the deadline; candidates need to read each part with Care.

What the JABU Registrar does

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and the Head of the Registry.

The office holder is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University. The Registrar also serves as Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, Congregation, and Convocation.

Person specification for the JABU Registrar post

JABU stated that the candidate must have wide knowledge of university administration and must be transparent, resourceful, and professional.

The notice also states that the candidate must be in sound physical and mental health and must be capable of carrying out the duties of the office.

The candidate must also be able to advise the Vice Chancellor on the planning and execution of strategies.

JABU added that the candidate must be a Christian, preferably of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas denomination, with a proven record of leadership and strong communication skills.

The university listed the qualifications and conditions for the post.

Academic qualifications

The applicant must possess a good university degree, not below Second Class Lower Division, from a recognised university.

The applicant must also hold a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.

Rank and work experience

The applicant must not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar with at least five years standing.

The notice also requires a minimum of fifteen years of relevant post-graduation experience in university administration or a relevant organisation.

Age and professional membership

The applicant must not be older than 60 years at the time of assumption of duty.

The applicant must also be a registered member of ANUPA and other relevant professional bodies such as CIPM and NIM.

Digital skills

JABU stated that the applicant must be digitally compliant, current in the use of information and communication technology, and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite.

Candidates are required to submit an application, curriculum vitae, and other necessary credentials as attachments.

The curriculum vitae should be arranged with these details:

  • Religion and denomination
  • Permanent home address
  • Current postal address, including GSM number(s) and email address
  • Marital status
  • Name of spouse and GSM number
  • Names and ages of children
  • Schools attended with dates
  • Academic qualifications with dates
  • Membership of professional bodies
  • Work experience
  • Present employment, status, and salary
  • Service to national and international bodies
  • Signature and date

Extra documents required for the JABU Registrar application

The application must include the candidate’s statement of Vision and Mission for the University Registry for the next five years, in not more than 1,000 words.

Each candidate must also contact referees to provide signed recommendation letters. The letters are to attest to the candidate’s academic and managerial ability, as well as moral character.

Candidates are to submit fifteen hard copies of their applications and credentials under confidential cover in a sealed envelope marked “Post of Registrar, JABU”.

The position applied for should be written boldly in capital letters at the top left corner of the envelope.
