KSITM gets NBTE approval as a Vocational Enterprise Institute under TVET

Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management, KSITM, has announced its approval by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, to operate as a Vocational Enterprise Institute under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET, initiative.

The institute said the approval followed a successful accreditation exercise conducted by NBTE on 2 April 2026. During that exercise, the institute’s facilities, manpower, and training capacity were assessed and found to meet the required standards for TVET delivery.

What the NBTE approval means for KSITM

With this approval, KSITM, also referred to as KSILABS in the notice, is now authorised to offer industry-relevant, competency-based training programmes.

The programmes are aimed at equipping youths and the general public with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. That is the core of the update; the approval gives the institute room to run these vocational courses under the TVET framework.

NBTE approved the following trades for the institute:

How the approval was granted

The institute said the approval came after an accreditation exercise carried out by NBTE on 2 April 2026. The exercise covered the institute’s facilities, manpower, and training capacity.

After that review, KSITM was found to meet the required standards for TVET delivery. That finding cleared the way for the approval now announced.

Who the programmes are for

The approved programmes are meant for youths and the general public. The notice also calls on prospective trainees, industry partners, and the public to take advantage of the newly approved courses.

According to the institute, the programmes are designed to meet modern industry demands and global best practices.

What KSITM said about the approval

The management expressed appreciation to NBTE for approving the institute to deliver vocational training. The institute also acknowledged the support of the Katsina State Government, Governing Council, staff, and other stakeholders.

The notice adds that KSITM remains committed to technical education and plans to expand its programmes in line with emerging technologies and workforce needs.
