Abia State Resumption Date For 2025/2026 Third Term

Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has released the academic calendar for the Third Term of the 2025/2026 session.

The notice was signed by the Honourable Commissioner, Elder Goodluck Chinedu Ubochi. It gives the resumption date, mid-term break and closing date for the term.

Abia State Third Term Resumption Date

All public and private schools across Abia State are to resume for Third Term on Monday, 27 April 2026.

Teaching and learning are expected to begin immediately on the same day.

Abia State Third Term Calendar

The Ministry fixed the following dates for the term.

Activity Date
School resumption Monday, 27 April 2026
Mid-term break Thursday, 18 June to Sunday, 21 June 2026
Closing date Friday, 31 July 2026

Parents should take note of these dates; the first day of term is also the first day of lessons.

Notice To School Heads And Proprietors

The Ministry directed Principals, Heads of Schools and Proprietors of private schools to prepare their school grounds for pupils and students.

They are expected to ensure that classrooms and other school spaces are ready before learners return.

Notice To Parents And Guardians

Parents and guardians are advised to make sure their children and wards return to school on time.

Late return may affect early lessons, since teaching starts immediately after resumption.

Notice To Teachers

All teachers are required to report to their duty posts.

They must also follow the directives issued by the Abia State Government for the term.
