The Management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, announced the postponement of students’ resumption and the commencement of academic activities. The announcement was issued in a press release dated Friday, 9 Jan 2026.

The decision was approved by the University Management on behalf of the Senate, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Eunice Eboisenhien Omonzejie.

Reason stated in the press release

AAU stated that the postponement became necessary to enable the university complete ongoing renovation works on student structures and facilities. The statement linked the works to the teaching and learning environment; the school also described the adjustment as temporary.

Instruction to hostel residents

AAU advised students who are still in the hostels to vacate immediately so renovation works can proceed. The directive applies to those currently in the hostels; students are expected to comply while awaiting the next resumption date.

AAU stated that a new resumption date will be announced in due course.

Inaugural lecture and examinations affected

The university disclosed that the 140th Inaugural Lecture, earlier scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026, has been postponed.

AAU also stated that ongoing examinations have been affected. New dates for the lecture and for completion of the examinations will be communicated to stakeholders in due course; the release did not provide replacement dates.

AAU expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of students, parents, and guardians. The university urged students to follow the revised resumption schedule once it is announced; parents and guardians were also asked to ensure their wards are aware of, and comply with, the new arrangements (once released).
