Alex Otti Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Programme application now open

The Alex Otti Foundation has opened its portal for applications into the Undergraduate Scholarship Programme, a scheme created to support academically strong students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

The scholarship is meant for talented young Nigerians who need financial help to continue higher education in publicly owned tertiary schools across the country. The idea is plain; the Foundation wants to ease the pressure created by rising education costs and help bright students stay in school.

What the scholarship programme is about

The programme is for undergraduate students who show strong academic performance, leadership potential, and a clear commitment to community development.

Over the years, the scheme has grown, with hundreds of students benefiting across various universities in Nigeria. Beneficiaries receive financial support for tuition, accommodation, and other academic needs during their university studies.

Who can apply

Interested applicants must meet these conditions before they apply:

  • The applicant must be an undergraduate student in a Nigerian public tertiary school.
  • The candidate must have completed the first academic session and be moving to 200-level.
  • A minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale, or its equivalent, is required.
  • The applicant must be ancestrally from Abia State or currently living in Abia State.
  • Direct Entry students admitted into 200-level may also apply if they meet the academic requirement.
  • The applicant must not have a sibling who is a current Alex Otti Foundation scholar.

Documents required for the application

To complete the form, applicants must have digital copies of the following:

  • Signed statement of result issued by the department or faculty admin
  • Proof of residency, such as a utility bill or a letter from a community or religious leader
  • Valid identification
  • Three essays of 400 words each, making a total of 1,200 words

Rule on originality and AI use

The Foundation says applicants must submit original work.

Plagiarism or excessive use of Artificial Intelligence, AI, will lead to immediate disqualification. The message is direct; the Foundation wants each applicant’s own voice and own ideas.

How selection will work

Candidates will be assessed based on academic performance, leadership qualities, and commitment to community development.

Successful applicants may go through more screening stages before final selection. These stages may include aptitude tests and interviews.

Foundation’s wider work

The Alex Otti Foundation says it remains committed to improving access to quality education and helping young people reach their potential.

Beyond scholarships, the Foundation also runs other community-based efforts, including small business loans, grants for artisans, and other social impact programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.

How to apply

Interested and qualified students are expected to visit the official Alex Otti Foundation scholarship portal to complete the application and upload all required documents before the closing date.

The deadline is midnight on Sunday, 5 April 2026.

Form instructions for applicants

Applicants are asked to draft their essays in a separate document first, then paste them into the form when ready.

For school selection, applicants should use the search bar in the “School” field to find their tertiary school from the Foundation’s database.
