By David Oladele Updated on
The Bauchi State Government has approved the return of learning across the state after talks with key voices in education. These talks involved school principals, leaders across the education sector, and owners of private schools.
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya), gave the approval for all Basic and Senior Secondary Schools, along with tertiary schools, to resume on Sunday, 4 January 2026.
- Exams planned before the closure will take place within the first week after resumption. Other teaching and school activities will continue after the exams.
- Permission has also been given for the immediate reopening of the three Federal Government Unity Colleges, in line with guidance from the Federal Ministry of Education.
- Schools were earlier closed after advice from security agencies, following reports of unsafe incidents in schools across the country. The decision to reopen follows an improvement in safety conditions.
- Parents and guardians are asked to return students to school without delay. Extra security steps are being set up to protect learners, teachers, and non-teaching staff across schools and higher learning centres in the state.
