JAMB Begins Accreditation of 848 CBT Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, also known as JAMB, has started accrediting examination centres for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. The process covers 848 Computer-Based Test centres across the country and began on Monday, 15 December 2025.

This update appeared in JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin released the same day. The Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, shared the information during an online meeting with Chief External Examiners, Chief Technical Advisors, Zonal Directors, State Coordinators and other groups involved in the UTME process. These included members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, as well as ZITOs, SITOs and PITOs.

Professor Oloyede reminded all accreditation team members that their role carries wide effects for candidates and the education system. He asked them to work with care and full attention, stressing that no centre should be approved unless it meets every requirement set by the Board. He described the task as a national responsibility that demands honest judgement.

He also spoke about personal safety. Team members were advised to stay alert, avoid risky situations and reduce movements that could put them in harm’s way. The Registrar added that security plans are already in place to support the exercise from start to finish.

JAMB’s IT Consultant, Mr Damilola Bamiro, explained that only centres that passed the required automated system test are being considered. This test checks whether each centre’s computer systems are ready for UTME use. Centres that failed the test were excluded from the physical checks.

He added that inspectors will closely review CCTV systems during visits. Each centre must use hard-wired cameras from the HIKVision brand, set up with the approved 16-channel configuration. All network switches must also be linked to an Uninterruptible Power Supply to support stable operation during examinations.
