LASU Issues Notice on Unauthorised Content Creation

Lagos State University has raised concern about the growing use of its campuses and facilities for content creation without approval. This trend is common among students who create videos, skits, or short clips for social media. While creativity and self-expression are welcome, some recent materials shared online have been offensive or misleading. Such content can affect how the school is seen by the public and does not reflect its values.

To protect the learning environment and maintain order on campus, the university has issued a clear directive for everyone who plans to record or film within school grounds.

Approval Required for Filming and Recording

All students, staff, and members of the public who wish to carry out cinematographic activities on any campus must seek approval first. Permission must be obtained from the Centre for Information and Public Relations, located on the 3rd Floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building at the Ojo main campus.

This rule covers all forms of recording. Examples include comedy skits, vox pop interviews, short films, promotional videos, and similar audiovisual content. The directive applies to lecture areas, hostels, open spaces, and all related facilities.

Drone Use on Campus

The use of drones within the university environment is not allowed without written clearance from the Security Department. This rule is in place to protect safety, privacy, and campus security.

Students are advised to follow these guidelines before creating content on campus. By doing so, they help maintain respect for the school and avoid avoidable issues.

The management appreciates the cooperation of everyone in preserving the dignity and public image of Lagos State University (LASU).
