PUMS Postgraduate Admission Form for 2025/2026 Session
The School of Postgraduate Studies at PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), Port Harcourt, runs full-time postgraduate programmes meant to grow research thinking in graduates. The focus stays on careful enquiry, steady research training, and shared academic work, while still giving room for personal ideas. It is a serious setting, but students are guided and supported through the process.
Applications are open to qualified candidates for admission into full-time postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session. Successful applicants may earn Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees, or Doctor of Philosophy degrees, depending on the programme.

Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
Applicants must:
- Hold a BMLS degree from an approved university with a Third Class grade
- Be registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria
Master’s Degree (MSc)
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least Second Class Lower
- An unclassified degree with a minimum overall grade of C, meaning 50%
- A PGD in a related field with a CGPA of 3.00 or higher on a 5-point scale
- Fellowship of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria in a relevant area, for Medical Laboratory Science only
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Applicants must:
- Hold a Master’s degree in the proposed area with a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 5-point scale

- Minimum: 2 semesters
- Maximum: 3 semesters
MSc
- Minimum: 3 semesters
- Maximum: 5 semesters
PhD
- Minimum: 6 semesters
- Maximum: 9 semesters
How to Apply
The application form is completed online. Candidates should use the official PUMS postgraduate application portal at portal.pums.edu.ng/admission-postgraduate.php
Application steps
- Complete all required fields and select Proceed.
- The system logs the applicant in and opens a dashboard to finish the form.
- Pay the application fee using the stated account details and upload payment proof. No payment, no submission.
- After final submission, print the application form and transcript request form. Send the transcript request to the former institution. Name changes should be clearly stated.
- Keep a printed copy of the application. It may be needed later, so best not forget it.
Applicants can log in with their email and password to continue or check application status before final submission.
Support is available through the Help Dashboard if problems show up while filling the form.
Extra Notes for Applicants
- Email should be checked often for updates from the university.
- Three referees are required. At least two must be academic staff not below Senior Lecturer rank.
- MSc applicants must upload a one-page synopsis of their previous research.
- PhD applicants must upload a research proposal of no more than five pages.

Transcripts may be sent in hard copy or soft copy. Soft copies must come from institutional email addresses and be sent to spgs@pums.edu.ng.
PhD applicants may later receive an invitation for proposal defence. The date will be shared when ready.
