UNIJOS releases Christmas and New Year break dates for 2025
The management of University of Jos (UNIJOS) has shared the official timetable for the 2025 Christmas and New Year holiday break for staff and students.
This update came through an internal memo dated December 20, 2025, issued by the Deputy Registrar in charge of Information and Publications. The memo explained the length of the break and also fixed a small clerical mix-up linked to the earlier resumption date.
According to the notice, the holiday period begins on Monday, December 22, 2025, and ends on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
University activities, both academic and office-based, will start again on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The school management explained that this notice corrects an earlier memo released on December 19. That earlier message wrongly listed the resumption year as 2025. The administration described the mistake as regretted and asked all staff to note the proper 2026 date so there is no confusion.
While many staff members will be on break, workers assigned to essential services are expected to stay on duty during the holiday. This includes roles linked to security, maintenance, and daily campus care. The work still goes on, even during festive time.
Speaking for the university, the Vice-Chancellor sent warm holiday wishes to the full UNIJOS community. Staff and students were wished a Merry Christmas and a New Year that goes well for all.
