WAEC GCE Registration Form 2026 - WASSCE for Private Candidates First Series

This is to inform the general public and intending candidates that registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates 2026 first series has started. Registration for the exam costs N27,000. Registration closes by 11:59pm on Friday, 30 January 2026. Candidates should read the full page well so the registration goes fine.

Registration for WAEC GCE

Registration for WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2026 First Series will be online. After getting the Registration PIN, candidates should log on to WAEC private candidate registration website for registration. The steps include biometric capture, and it will be used to confirm candidates at the exam centres.

WAEC GCE Registration period

Normal registration ends on Friday, 30 January 2026.

Mode of payment

Candidates are to pay Twenty Seven Thousand Naira (N27,000) at branches of any of the banks listed below or through an accredited agent, then collect the Registration PIN and information VCD:

Walk-in candidates

Candidates who want to register after entries close may be accepted as “Walk-in-Candidates”, if they register not less than twenty-four hours to the scheduled time of the paper(s) they want to write. The walk-in fee is Forty-Five Thousand Naira (N45,000.00) only.

Candidates with special needs

Candidates with special needs will register online like others, but they must clearly state their impairment, for example: Visual, Low vision, Spastic, Speech, Hard to hear, and so on.

Where to register

Candidates can visit accredited banks, cyber cafes, WAEC offices and “WAEC registration points” nearest to them for PIN purchase and registration.

Completion of registration

Candidates must finish registration within two weeks of first access to the website during the registration period. They should check that their names, gender, passport photo, date of birth and subjects are correct.

They are to print the Admission Notice as proof of successful registration. This notice will be used for identification during the examination. The Result Checker PIN will also be on the Admission Notice.

The acceptable fingerprint scanner is the UareU digitalPersona fingerprint device.

General information

  • The exam will be computer based test. Objective papers will be fully CBT. Essay and test of practical will be hybrid, the questions show on the screen and candidates write answers in answer booklets.
  • There will be an online mock exam for interested candidates who registered and want to get used to the testing set-up. The date and how it will run will be sent via SMS, emails and social media platforms.
  • The registration fee is not refundable.
  • Candidates should keep checking the website for the exam timetable.
  • Entries must be uploaded with passport photographs captured with digital camera. The stated camera spec is Microsoft HD 3000. The passport photo must be good quality black and white or colour (JPEG file only, 275 by 314 pixels with 72 dbi resolution) and with a contrasting background. There must be no obstructive items. A defaced or poor photo can invalidate the entry. For more details, candidates can visit WAEC Nigeria official website.
  • Candidates should study the regulations and syllabuses for the exam, which they can download from WAEC online site for regulations and syllabus downloads using the Registration PIN.
  • Candidates must go to the exam hall in mufti and without arms. No professional uniform of any kind is allowed in the exam hall.
  • Any candidate who sits for the exam in more than one centre will have the entire result cancelled.
  • Smoking is not allowed in the exam hall.
  • Any candidate that comes into the hall with mobile phone(s) or other electronic gadget(s) will have the entire results cancelled.
  • Candidates must check entries before uploading. The council will not be held responsible for mistakes in the candidate’s details. Requests for changes will not be accepted for info the candidate gave during registration.
  • Candidates must come into the exam hall with the original Admission Notice.
  • Candidates who take part in exam malpractice will have results cancelled and may be prosecuted.
  • Candidates must provide valid email and telephone number(s) during registration.
