Nigerian Army 91 Regular Recruit Intake 2026

The Nigerian Army, the largest part of the Nigerian Armed Forces, handles land warfare operations and is governed by the Nigerian Army Council.

Applications are invited for the 91 Regular Recruit Intake for Trades / Non-Tradesmen & Women.

Basic entry requirements

An applicant must meet these conditions:

  1. The applicant must be single and a Nigerian citizen by birth.
  2. The applicant must have a National Identity Number and a Bank Verification Number slip.
  3. The name and date of birth on the NIN must match the BVN and every other credential.
  4. The applicant must be medically, physically and psychologically fit under Nigerian Army standards.
  5. The applicant must have no criminal conviction from any court of competent jurisdiction.
  6. The applicant must have at least four passes, including English Language, in not more than two sittings in WASSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or NBAIS.
  7. A tradesman or tradeswoman must also have a Trade Test or City and Guild Certificate.
  8. The applicant must have a valid birth certificate from the National Population Commission, a hospital, or a local government council. An age declaration endorsed by a competent court can also suffice.
  9. A non-tradesman or non-tradeswoman must be at least 18 years old and not above 22 years by 30 June 2026.
  10. A tradesman or tradeswoman must not be above 26 years by 30 June 2026.
  11. Male applicants must be at least 1.68 metres tall.
  12. Female applicants must be at least 1.65 metres tall.
  13. Applicants must apply with their State of Origin, not their State of Residence.
  14. The applicant must have a valid certificate of State of Origin.

Application guidelines

Applicants are expected to follow these steps:

  1. Apply online through the recruitment portal.
  2. Log in with the username and password generated earlier.
  3. Complete the application form and submit it online.
  4. Print a copy of the form and complete the Guarantor Form where required.
  5. Submit the application online after printing the Photo Card. Failure to submit online leads to disqualification.

  • Photo Card
  • Declaration by Applicant
  • Parent or Guardian Forms
  • Certification by LGA Chairman or Secretary
  • Certification by Divisional Police Officer

Key notes for applicants

The Army states that:

  • All documents will be verified with the issuing authorities.
  • Candidates with fake documents will be handed over to the police for prosecution.
  • There will be no pre-selection Computer Based Test.
  • There will be no special centre for recruitment.
  • Screening will take place in each candidate’s State of Origin.
  • Candidates must not bring electronic or recording devices to the State recruitment venue.
  • Tattoo, piercing or inscription on any part of the body, apart from tribal marks, are not allowed.
  • Multiple ear piercings for female candidates are not allowed.
  • Candidates must present original copies of all credentials, including primary and secondary school certificates.
  • Candidates must not belong to any cult, secret society or fraternity.
  • A candidate will be withdrawn from training if found to have forged or falsified documents.
  • Candidates are advised not to give any gratification or inducement to any person or group in connection with the exercise.
  • Candidates must come with their NIN and BVN slips.
  • The application is free.
  • Applicants must apply once only; multiple applications lead to outright disqualification.

  • The names of shortlisted candidates for screening will be published on the Nigerian Army website.
  • Recruitment into the Nigerian Army is a call for national service with a competitive process and is not a guaranteed form of employment.
