NYSC Mourns Corps Member Abdulsamad Jamiu After Abuja Incident

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has mourned Corps Member Abdulsamad Jamiu, who died during a military operation near his residence at Shagari Estate, Dei-Dei, Abuja.

His death happened early on Sunday, 26 April 2026.

NYSC Sends Condolences To Abdulsamad Jamiu’s Family

NYSC Management expressed deep sympathy to the family, friends and loved ones of Abdulsamad Jamiu, whose service number was NS/25A/2904.

The Scheme described the incident as painful and regrettable; for the people who knew him, the loss cuts close, and for NYSC, it has raised fresh concern around corps member safety.

Where Abdulsamad Jamiu Served

Before his death, Abdulsamad Jamiu was serving at Government Junior Secondary School, Bakin Ado, Nasarawa State.

Through that posting, he was taking part in the national service programme. His role at the school placed him among corps members serving outside their home states under the NYSC Scheme.

What NYSC Said About The Incident

NYSC said it noted the incident with sorrow and concern.

The management also said it is working with relevant security agencies to find out the full circumstances around what happened near his residence at Shagari Estate, Dei-Dei, Abuja.

NYSC restated its commitment to the safety, security and welfare of corps members and staff across Nigeria.

The Scheme said it will keep working with security and intelligence agencies to reduce risks and improve protection across the country.

NYSC said it stands with the bereaved family at this painful time.

The Scheme also prayed for the peaceful repose of Abdulsamad Jamiu’s soul.
