OAU JUPEB admission form for 2026/2027 academic session

Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, has opened the JUPEB Programme admission form for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The programme gives candidates a route to Direct Entry admission into 200 level in OAU, other universities in Nigeria, or abroad. For many applicants, that is the main point; a one-session programme with a clear academic path.

What the JUPEB programme means

JUPEB is a national examination body that conducts examinations for students who have completed approved subject combinations and seek Direct Entry admission into Nigerian and partner foreign tertiary institutions.

The examination body was approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria to fill the gap created by the discontinuance of Advance Level Examinations.

Who can apply

To be eligible for examinations that lead to the award of JUPEB Direct Entry Certificates, a candidate must have gone through an intensive scheme of academic work linked to the proposed university course.

The basic entry requirement for enrolment is a minimum of five credit passes in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, SSCE, or General Certificate of Education, GCE, Ordinary Level. The subjects must be relevant to the chosen university course.

Subjects and course structure

Each candidate must register, sit for examinations, and satisfy the Board in three subjects and one General Studies course tied to the proposed course in any university.

Each subject is broken into four courses. A candidate takes two courses per semester, making four courses in that subject by the end of the programme.

The results in all the courses are merged at the end of the second semester to produce the candidate’s grade in that subject.

Each candidate is expected to take twelve courses in all; six per semester, along with a General Studies course.

The General Studies component for each university faculty is based on the relevant general courses suggested for that faculty by each university.

How the grading works

At the end of the programme, students who complete it will receive certificates based on their level of performance.

The certificate carries letter grades of A, B, C, D, E or F in each of the three subjects and in the General Studies paper.

What candidates still need for university admission

Passing the JUPEB examinations for the Direct Entry Certificate is one part of the process.

For admission into any university, each candidate must also meet every other condition set by the university of choice. That point matters; the certificate stands with the university’s own admission rules.

Duration of the programme

The duration of the academic programme for the Board’s examination is a minimum of one academic session made up of two semesters.

How to apply

Interested candidates can apply through the OAU JUPEB application portal.
