OAU transport update on newly donated buses and tricycles

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has announced the receipt of fifty buses and thirty tricycles donated by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON. The university says the vehicles are already in operation, even as route changes, timetable fixes and other adjustments continue across Campus.

OAU receives 50 buses and 30 tricycles

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University says the donation marks a major step for student movement within the campus. In its update to the university community, with special attention to students, the school confirmed that fifty buses and thirty tricycles have been received successfully.

The university links the donation to Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s commitment to student welfare, mobility and general well-being. It also says the added vehicles are expected to ease transport problems within the campus.

Appreciation to Oluremi Tinubu and the Ooni of Ife

The university openly thanked the First Lady for the donation to her Alma Mater. Management presents the gesture as a clear sign of support for students and their daily movement around the school.

The school also expressed gratitude to His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, for his role in making the delivery happen. Management says his royal backing for education and student welfare remains deeply valued.

Operations have started, but the system is still settling

OAU says the buses and tricycles have begun operation. At the same time, management is asking students and the wider university community to bear with the present gaps in service.

The message is plain; this is a new transport setup, and some parts still need careful adjustment. Management says any perceived inadequacies in the current operation should be seen within that context.

What students should expect next

The university says work is ongoing on route adjustments, scheduling changes and other operational improvements. The aim, management says, is to make the service safer and more useful for everyone who depends on it.

It also states that concerns raised by students will be reviewed and addressed in due course. That point matters, because students want movement that works from day one, and the school is saying the system is still being fine-tuned.

Management restates its position

Management says it remains committed to providing a transport system that meets the needs of the university community. It adds that the goal is to run a service that matches what users expect from 21st century universities around the world.

For now, the university is asking for patience, understanding and cooperation from all stakeholders as the service improves. The buses are here, the tricycles are here, and the work continues.
