Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) Enforces 75% Attendance Rule for All Undergraduate Students
Essential Highlights
OAUSTECH has begun strict enforcement of its attendance rule for all undergraduates. Any student below 75% attendance cannot sit an exam.
- Rule covers Regular and FNG students
- Less than 75% attendance blocks exam entry
- Wrongly written exams will still have results withheld
- Students must attend lectures and record attendance
- No appeal on ignorance or negligence
Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Ondo State, has issued a formal notice to all undergraduate students. The notice covers both Regular and FNG students; from this semester, the university will enforce its attendance policy without exception.
75% attendance is now compulsory
The school states that any student who records less than 75% attendance in any course will not be allowed to sit for that course examination.
The rule is direct. Once a student’s attendance falls below the required mark, exam access for that course is lost.
What happens if a student still writes the exam
The notice also states that if a student is mistakenly allowed to write an examination despite low attendance, that result will be withheld and will not be processed.
That means exam entry alone does not settle the matter; the Attendance Record still stands.
Why the university issued the notice
OAUSTECH says the directive became necessary because of a growing trend of indiscipline, absenteeism, and disregard for university regulations and constituted authority.
The university adds that this trend has affected academic performance and contributed to avoidable failure rates.
What students are expected to do
Students are advised to meet the requirement by taking these steps:
- Attend all lectures and academic activities regularly
- Make sure attendance is properly documented
- Take full responsibility for compliance
No appeal for ignorance or negligence
The university states that no appeals or concessions will be entertained on grounds of ignorance or negligence.
Students are expected to treat the notice seriously and comply fully.
