UNIPORT TAGDev Scholarship 2026/2027 Application Guide

The University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, has called for applications for the 2026/2027 academic session under the TAGDev 2.0 Programme.

The programme is run by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture, RUFORUM, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and several African universities. It is aimed at young Africans studying agriculture and related fields.

What the UNIPORT TAGDev 2.0 programme covers

TAGDev 2.0 is a 10-year programme running from 2023 to 2033.

The scheme is set up to support universities and technical institutions across Africa. It focuses on giving students the skills needed for inclusive, equitable, and climate-resilient agricultural change. For UNIPORT applicants, that focus is plain; agriculture sits at the centre of it.

Who can apply for the UNIPORT TAGDev scholarship

The award is meant for students who are academically capable but face financial hardship.

Female applicants, refugees, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens or refugees residing in Nigeria
  • Come from economically disadvantaged or marginalised communities
  • Be under 25 years for undergraduate study
  • Be under 30 years for master’s study
  • Meet UNIPORT admission requirements
  • Show interest in agriculture, leadership, and community change

Eligible UNIPORT courses under TAGDev 2.0

The call covers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Undergraduate programmes

Eligible undergraduate courses are:

  • B.Sc. Agricultural Economics
  • B.Sc. Agribusiness Management
  • B.Sc. Agricultural Extension and Development Studies
  • B.Sc. Animal Science
  • B.Sc. Food Science and Nutrition

Postgraduate programmes

Eligible master’s courses are:

  • M.Sc. Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences
  • M.Sc. Agribusiness Management
  • M.Sc. Crop Science

What the scholarship will cover

The TAGDev scholarship is fully funded.

It will cover:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation and living expenses
  • Research and training costs
  • Laptop
  • Internship and field attachments
  • Entrepreneurship training

How to apply for the UNIPORT TAGDev scholarship

The application process has three stages.

Stage 1: Complete the online form

Applicants are to complete the online Google application form.

Stage 2: Apply for admission

Undergraduate applicants must apply through JAMB.

Postgraduate applicants must apply through the UNIPORT School of Graduate Studies.

Stage 3: Apply through RIMS

Applicants must also apply for the scholarship through the RUFORUM Information Management System, RIMS.

Documents to submit

Applicants are required to submit relevant documents, including:

  • Academic certificates
  • Identification
  • Proof of eligibility

The deadline for application is 1 June 2026.
