Wilson & Yinka Badejo Foundation Scholarship 2026: Eligibility, Benefits and How to Apply

The Wilson & Yinka Badejo Foundation has opened its 2026 scholarship application cycle for undergraduate students across Nigeria.

The scholarship offers financial support, mentorship and career guidance to eligible students in public tertiary schools. Applicants may come from any level of study and any academic discipline, provided they meet the stated rules.

Who Can Apply for WYBF Scholarship 2026?

The foundation invites applications from students who need financial support and have a strong academic record. It also expects applicants to show good character that can be checked.

Applicants must come from a less privileged background and explain their background in a short personal statement.

They must also be enrolled in, or accepted into, an accredited public tertiary school. Students in private tertiary schools do not qualify.

Previous beneficiaries should read the rule with care; anyone who has received at least two scholarships from the foundation cannot apply again, so more students can get a fair chance.

Applicants may apply for both the Legacy Scholarship and the Nurturing Hearts Scholarship. Still, a selected applicant can receive only one award.

Legacy Scholarship

The Legacy Scholarship has been offered by the foundation since 2008.

It supports brilliant indigent students who are studying for a higher education degree at a public university, polytechnic or college of education. The award is a one-time scholarship and does not renew.

To apply for the Legacy Scholarship, an applicant must live in Nigeria and must study, or already have admission to study, at a public tertiary school in Nigeria. The West African Theological Seminary and the Life Theological Seminary, Ikorodu, also count as eligible schools.

The applicant must meet all basic eligibility rules at the time of submission.

A complete online scholarship form is required. Students who already have admission but have not started coursework must provide their JAMB admission letter.

Students who are already enrolled and studying must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to be considered.

A potential awardee may need to provide a recommendation letter from a cleric in their local assembly, Head of Department, course adviser or Dean of Students. The scholarship board may also invite the applicant for an interview, based on its own decision.

There is no age requirement for the Legacy Scholarship.

Nurturing Hearts Scholarship

The Nurturing Hearts Scholarship is a new category launched this year in honour of Rev. Mrs Adeyinka Badejo, co-founder of the foundation.

This scholarship is for females aged 18 to 28 only. It supports young women who have a clear interest in children’s ministry work.

The award may be renewed once.

Applicants must live in Nigeria and meet the basic eligibility rules, where they apply. They must also meet the age and gender requirements at the time of application, and proof will be requested.

A complete online scholarship form is required.

The applicant must be pursuing a degree, vocational training or professional development in an area directly linked to children’s ministry.

Each applicant must also submit an essay of 500 to 750 words. The essay should explain her interest and passion for children’s ministry work, and how she plans to make a positive impact in the lives of young children she works with.

Prior experience in children’s ministry work may be included.

Applicants must provide two recommendation letters from a cleric, mentor, professor or counsellor. The letters should speak to the applicant’s character and her demonstrated passion for working with children and children’s ministry.

Anyone selected as a potential awardee must be willing to take part in an interview with the scholarship board.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful recipients will receive a scholarship worth ₦100,000 to support their academic expenses.

They will also receive mentorship and career guidance from experienced professionals, with support for workplace insight and personal development.
