UNIBEN Resumption Date 2nd Semester 2025/2026 & Break Details

The University of Benin, UNIBEN, has announced the end of the first semester for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a circular from the Office of the Registrar dated 14 April 2026, the university stated that first semester examinations will end on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. That date marks the close of the semester; students are then expected to proceed on break.

UNIBEN semester break date

UNIBEN said the semester break will begin on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

Students are expected to observe the break from that date. The notice also directed all students to vacate the halls of residence on or before 12 noon on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

That deadline matters. Any student in the halls should take note and act early.

UNIBEN second semester resumption date

The second semester will begin on Sunday, 26 April 2026.

Students are expected to return to their halls of residence on that same date. This sets the resumption point for the new half of the session; the calendar moves fast from there.

Date lectures will start at UNIBEN

UNIBEN stated that lectures across all faculties and schools will begin on Monday, 27 April 2026.

This means students will return to campus on Sunday and begin lectures the next day.

On behalf of the management, Vice-Chancellor Edoba B. Omoregie commended staff and students for their dedication and cooperation during the semester.

He also encouraged students to use the break well, rest, and prepare for the next semester.
