UNICAL Academic Calendar 2025/2026: Key Dates

The University of Calabar, UNICAL, has published the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 second semester and the 2025/2026 first semester for Stream B. The schedule sets out return date, registration, lectures, examinations, sports period, and the final date for sessional and degree results.

UNICAL key dates for April 2026

The calendar opens with an inaugural lecture on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

From Thursday, 2 April to Saturday, 11 April 2026, the university will hold its 38th Convocation.

All Students are to return to campus on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

Registration begins for 500 level students in Stream B on Monday, 13 April 2026.

Lectures begin for all students on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. Another inaugural lecture also falls on that same day.

By Thursday, 30 April 2026, all outstanding 2024/2025 sessional results, including Stream B degree results, are due for submission.

500 level Stream B registration

Late registration for 500 level students in Stream B ends on Monday, 4 May 2026.

Lecture period and semester length

The calendar gives 12 weeks for lectures and 4 weeks for examination. That brings the total semester length to 16 weeks.

Inaugural lectures and semester events

UNICAL has fixed more inaugural lectures across the semester.

In May 2026, inaugural lectures will hold on Wednesday, 6 May and Wednesday, 20 May.

In June 2026, inaugural lectures will hold on Wednesday, 3 June and Wednesday, 17 June.

Supplementary examinations and summer examinations will run from Monday, 25 May to Friday, 29 May 2026.

Continuous assessment for all students will take place from Monday, 1 June to Friday, 5 June 2026.

UNICAL examination timetable for second semester

Revision week will run from Monday, 6 July to Friday, 10 July 2026.

GSS examinations for all courses begin on Monday, 13 July 2026, and run until Friday, 17 July 2026.

Examinations for other courses begin on Monday, 20 July 2026.

Examinations end on Friday, 7 August 2026. On that same date, the long vacation begins.

Weekly sports period and result submission

The calendar states that throughout the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session, every Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm is set aside for sports.

It also fixes Monday, 31 August 2026, as the date when all sessional and degree results for the 2025/2026 session must be submitted for vetting and approval.

UNICAL 2025/2026 semester summary

The schedule gives a clear run of the semester; lectures take 12 weeks, examinations take 4 weeks, and the full term lasts 16 weeks.
