UNIJOS Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The University of Jos, UNIJOS, has approved an amended academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Students of the university are expected to check the revised dates and follow the schedule for registration, lectures, matriculation, examinations, breaks, result processing, teaching practice, industrial attachment, convocation, and the start of the next session. A missed date can cause stress later; better to mark the calendar early.

UNIJOS First Semester Academic Calendar

The first semester begins with online registration for new students and registration for returning students, before lectures start for all students on Monday, 1 December 2025.

Registration and Lectures

• Monday, 17 November 2025: Online registration for new students
• Monday, 24 November 2025: Registration of returning students
• Monday, 1 December 2025: Commencement of first semester lectures for all students
• Monday, 8 December 2025: Beginning of late registration
• Friday, 12 December 2025: End of registration for all students
• Monday, 22 December 2025 to Friday, 2 January 2026: Christmas break
• Monday, 5 January 2026: Lectures continue
• Thursday, 15 January 2026: Matriculation of new students

First Semester Revision, Exams and Breaks

• Saturday, 14 March 2026: End of first semester lectures and revision for all students
• Monday, 16 March 2026: Commencement of first semester examinations
• Friday, 20 March to Monday, 23 March 2026: Eid-el-Fitr break
• Tuesday, 24 March 2026: Examinations continue
• Friday, 3 April to Monday, 6 April 2026: Easter break
• Tuesday, 13 April 2026: Examinations continue
• Saturday, 25 April 2026: End of first semester examinations for all students

UNIJOS Industrial Attachment, Teaching Practice and Results

The first semester does not end with exams alone, as the amended calendar also gives dates for industrial attachment, teaching practice, result compilation, faculty consideration, and Senate approval.

• Monday, 27 April 2026: Commencement of industrial attachment
• Monday, 27 April 2026: Beginning of teaching practice
• Monday, 27 April to Saturday, 16 May 2026: Compilation and submission of results
• Monday, 18 May 2026: Faculty meets to consider first semester examination results
• Thursday, 21 May 2026: Senate meets to consider and approve first semester examination results
• Friday, 5 June 2026: End of teaching practice

UNIJOS Second Semester Academic Calendar

Second semester lectures begin on Monday, 18 May 2026.

That same period also carries result consideration for the first semester, so students should take note of both academic and administrative dates.

Second Semester Lectures and Exams

• Monday, 18 May 2026: Commencement of second semester lectures for all students
• Saturday, 8 August 2026: End of second semester lectures and revision for all students
• Monday, 10 August 2026: Commencement of second semester examinations for all students
• Saturday, 29 August 2026: End of second semester examinations for all students

Result Processing and Senate Approval

• Monday, 31 August to Saturday, 19 September 2026: Compilation and submission of results
• Monday, 21 September 2026: Faculty meets to consider second semester examination results
• Thursday, 24 September 2026: Senate meets to consider and approve second semester examination results

Academic Staff Leave, Convocation and Next Session

The calendar also sets dates for academic staff leave, proposed convocation, the end of industrial attachment, and the start of the 2026/2027 academic session.

• Monday, 21 September to Sunday, 1 November 2026: Academic staff leave
• 5 to 10 October 2026: Proposed convocation
• Saturday, 24 October 2026: End of industrial attachment
• Monday, 2 November 2026: Commencement of lectures for all students for the 2026/2027 session

Students are to take note of the changes made to the academic calendar.

The amended UNIJOS academic calendar covers the full 2025/2026 session, from registration in November 2025 to the start of lectures for the 2026/2027 session on Monday, 2 November 2026.
