UNIZIK 20th Convocation Ceremony 2026

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced that its 20th Convocation Ceremony will hold from Wednesday, 17 June to Saturday, 20 June 2026.

The four-day ceremony is for graduands of the 2024/2025 academic session, and it will give them the chance to receive their certificates during the university programme.

VC Announces UNIZIK 20th Convocation Date

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, made the announcement during the 242nd Senate meeting of the university.

The meeting was held in 2026 at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences, UNIZIK.

For graduands waiting for the school’s next ceremonial step, this gives a clear date range; June 17 to June 20 is now the window to watch.

What the Convocation Will Cover

Prof. Anyaehie said the annual convocation ceremony will allow graduands from the 2024/2025 academic session to get their certificates.

The programme will also feature the award of honorary degrees.

Emeritus Professorial titles will be bestowed during the ceremony too.

Possible Second Convocation Later in 2026

The 7th Substantive Vice-Chancellor also said there is a chance that another convocation ceremony may hold before the end of the year.

That second ceremony has been tentatively set for November 2026.

The proposed November date coincides with the birthday of the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, also known as Zik of Africa.

VC Speaks on Staff and Student Welfare

Prof. Anyaehie assured the university community that staff and student welfare would remain a major concern during his five-year administration as Chief Executive of the university.
