Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award for Journalists, Influencers & Content Creators

The Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award is a national recognition programme launched by the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee. This Award honours journalists, influencers, and digital creators whose reporting and content promote factual understanding and informed discussion of Nigeria’s tax reforms. It seeks to highlight responsible storytelling that strengthens public trust and helps citizens grasp how fiscal policies shape the nation’s growth.

The Award is designed to celebrate exceptional reporting that encourages accuracy, balance, and clarity in the coverage of Nigeria’s ongoing tax reform. It reflects the committee’s vision of empowering the media and online community to drive credible narratives that build public confidence.

Speaking at the unveiling, Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, emphasised that the media plays a key role in shaping national dialogue. He noted that by supporting journalists and content creators, the committee aims to encourage fair reporting that fosters accountability and public understanding.

Eligibility

  • Open to Nigerian journalists across print, broadcast, and online media.
  • Digital influencers, bloggers, and podcasters are also welcome to participate.

Entry Requirements

  • Entries must be published between 1 July and 31 December 2025.
  • Accepted formats: articles, videos, podcasts, or online reports that explain or analyse Nigeria’s tax reform.
  • Submissions can be in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba, with English translations where applicable.
  • Audio and video content must not exceed ten minutes.

Awards and Prizes

  • 1st Prize: ₦10 million
  • 2nd Prize: ₦5 million
  • 3rd Prize: ₦3 million
  • Top 20 Finalists: ₦1 million each, along with plaques, training fellowships, and digital gadgets.

Evaluation Criteria

Entries will be judged on the following:

  • Accuracy and Technical Correctness: Ensuring facts and context are sound.
  • Balance and Fairness: Presenting multiple viewpoints objectively.
  • Clarity and Accessibility: Making complex topics understandable to the public.
  • Public Engagement: Gauging reach, reactions, and discussion generated.
  • Creativity: Reflecting originality in storytelling and presentation.

Awards Gala

Winners will be honoured at a national awards ceremony to be held in Lagos or Abuja. The event will be broadcast on major television channels, with live streaming available on YouTube and X Spaces.
