JAMB Admission Deadline for Tertiary Institutions 2025/2026

JAMB Admission Deadline for Tertiary Institutions 2025/2026

By  Updated on

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced clear deadlines for the 2025/2026 admissions. Public universities must close admissions by 31st October 2025, private universities by 30th November 2025, and all other schools by 31st December 2025. Institutions are directed to finish early and follow the timeline strictly.

JAMB Sets 2025/2026 Admission Deadlines For All Schools

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, better known as JAMB, has once again laid down the law for admissions. This time it comes with dates, firm ones, no room for delay. At the 2025 policy meeting, chaired by the Minister of Education, a decision was sealed: every tertiary institution must complete admissions before the curtain falls on the year.

For students, this is like a drumbeat in the distance, steady and sure, telling them when the gates will close. For schools, it is a line drawn in the sand, no excuses.

Who must finish when

Here is how the schedule looks, plain and simple:

  • Public universities must wrap up admissions by 31st October 2025
  • Private universities are given until 30th November 2025
  • All other institutions, public or private, have till 31st December 2025

No extra time, no dragging of feet. The idea is for schools to close their lists early enough, even if lectures are not yet starting. The rule says, admit and archive.

Why this move matters

Stakeholders at the meeting reached this decision to steady the academic calendar. They want admissions to stop being a moving target. When one school drags its process while another starts fast, it leaves students confused and sometimes stranded. This timetable is meant to level the field, so every candidate has fair access, whether they are gunning for a public university, a private one, or any other type of school.

What schools must do

Institutions that conduct post-UTME screenings have also been warned. Those exercises must be concluded quickly enough to match the deadlines. No waiting games. No late-night rush.

It sounds tough, but really, it is a call for order. And if you think about it, the clarity is good for everyone. Students know when the clock runs out, schools know when the gate must close, and the academic cycle stays less shaky.

For now, that is the shape of things. The deadlines are clear, the dates are marked, and the clock has already started ticking. Better not slack, as Nigerians say, before time waka pass you by.
