The good news? JAMB allows changes. The not-so-good part? Some corrections are one chance only. So if you mess up the second time, you’re on your own.

What Can You Change on the JAMB Portal?

JAMB lets you fix some mistakes. Others, not so much. Some changes cost money. Some require proof. And some you can only do once. That part stings.

1. Name

Wrong spelling? Mixed-up names? You can correct your surname, first name, or middle name. But only once, so double-check before saving.

2. Date of Birth

Maybe you were born on a Tuesday but JAMB says Sunday. You can correct it, just once.

3. Passport Photograph

This one’s serious. If your picture doesn’t look like you, you need to change it. But you only get one shot.

4. Gender

Accidentally picked the wrong gender? You can fix it, but JAMB might ask for documents like a birth certificate or affidavit.

5. State or Local Government Area (LGA)

If they listed you under the wrong state or LGA, you can update it. But again, be ready with something to prove your real one.

6. Profile Details

You can also correct your email or phone number. Mistyped something? No wahala. Just note that this too is a one-time fix.

7. Course or Institution

Ah, here comes the most common one. Changed your mind about the school or course? You can do that more than once. But each time, it comes with a fee. And yes, it adds up.

How Much Will It Cost You?

Every correction, whether it’s your name, date of birth, course, school or even gender, costs ₦3,500. That includes the CBT centre’s service fee. Not bad, but still, money is money.

Here’s how you fix things. It’s not hard, but you need to follow the steps:

  1. Visit the JAMB eFacility portal
  2. Log in using your email and password
  3. On the menu, click “Registration (2025 only)”
  4. Pick “2025 UTME Data Correction” or “2025 DE Data Correction” (if you applied through Direct Entry)
  5. Make the ₦3,500 payment online
  6. After payment, go to a nearby JAMB office or an accredited CBT centre to complete the process

Note: Some corrections can’t be completed online alone. 

What If You Registered in 2024 or Earlier?

Your case is slightly different.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Go to the JAMB eFacility portal
  2. Log in as usual
  3. Look for “Application for Correction of Data (2024 Downward)”
  4. Pick what you want to change — course, institution, name, birth date, etc.
  5. You might still need to visit a JAMB office for the last steps
