JAMB Change of Course, Institution or Data (2025 Update)
This article explains how to change your JAMB course, school, or personal information. It breaks down what you can correct, how much it costs, and where to go. Keep reading so you don’t miss out on key steps.
It happens. You’re checking your JAMB slip and—boom—you see something off. Maybe your name is swapped. Maybe you picked the wrong course. Or maybe you just don’t want to study what you picked anymore. Been there, seen that.
The good news? JAMB allows changes. The not-so-good part? Some corrections are one chance only. So if you mess up the second time, you’re on your own.
Let’s walk through what you can fix, how many times you can fix it, and what it’ll cost you. I’ll also throw in links to make your life easier. Because, really, this stuff can get confusing if you don’t know where to look.

What Can You Change on the JAMB Portal?
JAMB lets you fix some mistakes. Others, not so much. Some changes cost money. Some require proof. And some you can only do once. That part stings.
1. Name
Wrong spelling? Mixed-up names? You can correct your surname, first name, or middle name. But only once, so double-check before saving.
2. Date of Birth
Maybe you were born on a Tuesday but JAMB says Sunday. You can correct it, just once.
3. Passport Photograph
This one’s serious. If your picture doesn’t look like you, you need to change it. But you only get one shot.
4. Gender
Accidentally picked the wrong gender? You can fix it, but JAMB might ask for documents like a birth certificate or affidavit.
5. State or Local Government Area (LGA)
If they listed you under the wrong state or LGA, you can update it. But again, be ready with something to prove your real one.
6. Profile Details
You can also correct your email or phone number. Mistyped something? No wahala. Just note that this too is a one-time fix.
7. Course or Institution
Ah, here comes the most common one. Changed your mind about the school or course? You can do that more than once. But each time, it comes with a fee. And yes, it adds up.
Some folks change their choices three or four times, trying to get better chances of admission. No shame in that. Just be smart about it.
How Much Will It Cost You?
Every correction, whether it’s your name, date of birth, course, school or even gender, costs ₦3,500. That includes the CBT centre’s service fee. Not bad, but still, money is money.

Here’s how you fix things. It’s not hard, but you need to follow the steps:
- Visit the JAMB eFacility portal

- On the menu, click “Registration (2025 only)”
- Pick “2025 UTME Data Correction” or “2025 DE Data Correction” (if you applied through Direct Entry)
- Make the ₦3,500 payment online
- After payment, go to a nearby JAMB office or an accredited CBT centre to complete the process
Note: Some corrections can’t be completed online alone.
What If You Registered in 2024 or Earlier?
Your case is slightly different.
Here’s what to do:
- Go to the JAMB eFacility portal
- Log in as usual
- Look for “Application for Correction of Data (2024 Downward)”
- Pick what you want to change — course, institution, name, birth date, etc.
- You might still need to visit a JAMB office for the last steps
Final Thoughts
So yeah, mistakes happen. But the beauty is, they can be fixed. Just don’t delay. Because JAMB doesn’t wait forever, and schools start picking candidates once the portal opens.
Don’t let a small typo or mix-up block your chance of getting into school. If something looks off, take action. You’ve already done the hard part by writing JAMB. Now, just make sure your info matches who you really are.
As for the change of course or institution? Choose wisely. No dey do trial and error. Talk to people, do small research, and make your pick with sense.
And if someone tries to scam you for corrections, abeg run. Use only approved JAMB centres or offices. No be by force to enter yawa.
