Ekiti State University Secures Full Accreditation for 18 Courses

Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, has gained full accreditation for eighteen of its academic programmes following the October to November 2024 evaluation conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja.

The news, confirmed in an official letter dated 30 April 2025, was met with joy across the university. For staff, students and leadership, this is more than a win on paper. It represents recognition of years of hard work and steady growth in teaching, learning and internal systems.

The confirmation came through a letter signed by Engineer Abraham Chundusu, the Acting Director of Accreditation, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC. The letter was addressed directly to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele.

Vice Chancellor Reacts

In response, Prof. Ayodele described the achievement as “a dream come true,” highlighting the long hours and dedication shown by both academic and administrative teams. He emphasised that this progress places the university in a stronger position to serve Nigerian students, particularly in areas of study that are relevant to today’s realities.

He said the university remains focused on providing quality training that meets both local and global expectations.

A Rising Profile

This success adds another feather to the university’s cap. According to the 2025 Times Higher Education rankings, EKSU has been named the best-performing state university in Nigeria. For many observers, this fresh wave of accreditations only supports that recognition.

Gratitude to Key Figures

Prof. Ayodele did not fail to acknowledge those whose support has made this progress possible. He extended thanks to the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the University, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, who is also an alumnus. Others recognised include the University’s Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Akin Oyebode.

Their combined efforts, the Vice Chancellor noted, have helped shape the vision and global outlook of the institution.

As Ekiti State University marks this major academic milestone, the renewed confidence from the NUC is likely to inspire even more effort from staff and students alike.
