Learn how accreditation was awarded

The NUC carried out an inspection of the university between October and November 2024. The results were shared in a letter dated 30 April 2025, confirming that SLU met all the required academic standards.

This inspection looked at several areas, including teaching methods, learning resources, student support, and staff qualifications.

Understand why this matters for students

Studying an accredited course means your degree will be officially recognised in Nigeria and beyond. It also helps when applying for jobs, further study, or professional qualifications. Accreditation confirms that your course has been checked and approved by the right authority.

Hear from the university’s leadership

The Vice-Chancellor of SLU, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, said that the full accreditation shows the university’s strong effort to provide high-quality education. It proves that SLU is committed to helping students succeed through good teaching and strong support.

Apply with confidence

If you are planning to apply to SLU, this is good news. These 12 programmes now meet the NUC’s highest standard. That gives you peace of mind when choosing what to study.
