Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) 2nd Convocation Ceremony Programme of Events

Thomas Adewumi University in Oko, Kwara State holds its 2nd Convocation Ceremonies from Friday 21 November to Wednesday 26 November 2025. The week brings students, families, staff and friends together for study, service, sports, culture and awards on both the East and West Campuses. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, PhD, FBCS, FNCS, FASI, FPASRC, leads the events on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and students.

About the 2nd Convocation at Thomas Adewumi University

This 2nd Convocation marks a fresh group of graduates ready to move into work, service and further study. Degrees are given, prizes are presented and the whole campus takes part in outreach, worship, sport, drama, research and social events.

The ceremonies close with the Award of Degrees and Presentation of Prizes, where families and guests join staff and students to celebrate their work.

Host and special guests

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, invites the public on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and students.

The Convocation Lecturer is Dr. Bayo W. Olugbemi, f.csi, fccs, fca, fcim, Managing Director/CEO of First Registrars & Investor Services Ltd. He speaks on the topic:

Crowdfunding Opportunities for Startups: Equipping Nigerian Graduates for a Sustainable Future.

Event I – Community Outreach – 09:00 a.m.

  • Venue I: Oko Medical Centre
  • Venue II: Thomas Adewumi University Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran

Event II – Press Briefing – 12:00 noon

  • Venue: Senate Chamber

Event III – Cultural Night – 06:00 p.m.

  • Venue: TAU Auditorium (East Campus)

Students can join health and community work in the morning, hear updates at the press briefing and enjoy music, dance and drama at night.

Saturday, 22 November 2025

Event I – Convocation Sports – 10:00 a.m.

  • Venue: TAU Sports Arena (East Campus)

Event II – Convocation Play – 06:00 p.m.

  • Venue: TAU Chapel (West Campus)

The sports events give room for friendly games and team spirit. In the evening, the Convocation Play brings a stage story to life for students, staff and guests.

Convocation Thanksgiving – 10:00 a.m.

  • Venue: TAU Chapel (West Campus)

Students, staff, families and friends gather for a thanksgiving service to show thanks for learning, safety and growth during the year.

Monday, 24 November 2025

Event I – Exhibition – 10:00 a.m.

  • Venue: TAU Reception (East Campus)

Event II – Commissioning of Foreign Language Centre – 12:00 noon

  • Venue: TAU West Campus

Event III – Commissioning of TAU Radio – 01:00 p.m.

  • Venue: TAU FMSS (West Campus)

Event IV – Chancellor’s Night & PhD Recognition – 06:00 p.m.

  • Venue: Pool Side (West Campus)

The day opens with an exhibition at the reception. Later, guests attend the commissioning of the Foreign Language Centre and TAU Radio at the FMSS. The day closes with Chancellor’s Night and special recognition for PhD holders by the pool side.

Tuesday, 25 November 2025

Exhibition and Research Fair – 10:00 a.m.

  • Venue: TAU Reception (East Campus)

Students and staff present projects and research work. This gives young scholars a chance to share ideas with peers, staff and visitors.

Wednesday, 26 November 2025

Venue for all events: TAU Auditorium (East Campus)

Event I – Convocation Lecture – 10:00 a.m.

  • Convocation Lecturer:

  • Lecture Title:
    Crowdfunding Opportunities for Startups: Equipping Nigerian Graduates for a Sustainable Future.

Event II – Award of Degrees and Presentation of Prizes – 11:00 a.m.

After the lecture, the university moves straight to the Award of Degrees and Presentation of Prizes. Graduates receive their degrees, and prize winners are called out for special honours in front of family and friends.
