UNILAG Hostel Balloting 2025/2026 Guide

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has extended the deadline for hostel accommodation applications for the 2025/2026 academic session by one week. Students now have until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, 27 November 2025 to complete their applications for bed spaces in the halls of residence. After the application window closes, the hostel balloting exercise for room allocation will hold on Friday, 28 November 2025.

Who can apply for UNILAG hostel spaces
Only students who meet all the conditions below can apply for hostel bed spaces for the 2025/2026 academic session:
- 200 to 500 level students.
- Students who have completed course registration for 1st semester, 2025/2026 academic session.
- Students who are still within the regular duration for their programme.
Students who do not meet these conditions are not allowed to join the balloting exercise for hostel spaces.
How to apply for hostel accommodation
Eligible 200 to 500 level students need to follow these steps:
- Log in to the student portal with valid details.
- Complete course registration for 1st semester, 2025/2026 academic session.
- During the application window, open the hostel accommodation section on the portal.
- Submit the application for a bed space in the halls of residence.
- Confirm that the application has been properly submitted before the deadline.
Students should keep a record of their application for future reference.
How hostel balloting and allocation will work
After the application period ends at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, 27 November 2025, all valid applications will be taken into a random balloting process.
- Bed spaces will be shared through a random ballot.
- Every eligible student who applied during the window will have a chance in the ballot.
- Allocation will be based on this random process, not on manual selection.
The hostel balloting exercise will take place on Friday, 28 November 2025.

Important restrictions on eligibility
Some students are not allowed to take part in the current hostel balloting exercise. The following are not eligible:
- Students living in El-Kannemi Hall 2.
- Students living in Gbajabiamila.
- Students living in UNILAG Women Society (ULWS).
- Students living in other hostels in this same category around the campus.
The Student Affairs Division already has the list of students living in these hostels. Any student from this group who tries to join the ballot will be reported to the Students’ Disciplinary Board for social misconduct.
Students are advised to follow these rules carefully so that they do not face disciplinary action.
