University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Institute of International Trade and Development Graduate Admission 2025/2026

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), through its Institute of International Trade and Development (IITD), invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its graduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The programmes are designed to prepare students for leadership and research roles in trade, customs, maritime management, and related fields.

Available Graduate Programmes at UNIPORT IITD

  1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in International Trade and Development
  2. Master of Science (M.Sc) in International Trade and Development
  3. Master of Science (M.Sc) in Customs Administration and Border Management
  4. Master of Science (M.Sc) in Ports Management and Maritime Administration
  5. Master of Science (M.Sc) in Shipping and Maritime Security
  6. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Trade and Development Finance

Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Applicants must hold a good honours degree from a recognised university in Economics, Political Science, Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, History, Geography, Law, or related disciplines with at least a Third Class. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit are also eligible.

Master of Science (M.Sc) in International Trade and Development

Applicants must have a Second Class Honours degree in Economics, Political Science, Finance, Foreign Languages, Accounting, History, Marketing, Management, Geography, or Law. Professionals with at least five years of experience in trade-related industries may be considered, provided they hold a minimum CGPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale.

M.Sc in Customs Administration, Ports Management, and Shipping

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, or selected Arts disciplines such as History, International Relations, or Law, with a CGPA not below 2.50. Applicants with relevant work experience in Customs, Immigration, Navy, or the Nigerian Ports Authority may also be considered. Third Class graduates or HND holders with Upper Credit must hold a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field.

Ph.D in Trade and Development Finance

Applicants must hold the Institute’s M.Sc in International Trade and Development with a CGPA of 3.50 or higher. Candidates with an M.Sc in Economics, Marketing, Management, Accounting, International Finance, International Relations, or Mathematics with the same CGPA may also apply.

Programme Duration

  • PGD and M.Sc programmes: 12 calendar months
  • Ph.D programme: Minimum of 24 months and maximum of 60 months

Application forms can be obtained online at www.uniport.edu.ng or from the Institute’s office at Delta Park, UNIPORT. Applicants must present evidence of payment of a non-refundable fee of ₦40,000 made to one of the following accounts:

Submission Deadline

Completed forms, academic transcripts, two reference letters, and other required documents should be submitted to the Director, Institute of International Trade and Development, Delta Park, UNIPORT, no later than Friday, 30 January 2026.
