FUD Concessional Pass Minimum Score Set at 25

Federal University Dutse has approved a new minimum score for students seeking a Concessional Pass. From the 2025/2026 academic session, a student must score at least 25 marks to qualify.

This decision came from the University Senate during its 73rd Extraordinary meeting held on 23 December 2025. The update was shared through an official circular released by the Directorate of Academic Affairs, acting through the Office of the Registrar.

The Senate explained why the change was made. It said the aim is to keep grading fair across all faculties and departments while protecting academic standards. The Senate also raised worries about a growing habit among some students. According to the circular, a number of students skip lectures, miss Continuous Assessment tests, or even avoid examinations, believing they would still receive a Concessional Pass.

The university made it clear that this behaviour goes against Senate rules and weakens academic honesty. Students are expected to attend classes and take assessments seriously, not guess their way through the system.

With the new rule in place, only students who score 25 marks or more will be checked for Concessional Pass approval. Anyone below this mark will not be considered, no matter the reason.

The circular was signed by Bappa U. Shamsuddeen on behalf of the Registrar. Copies were sent to major university officers so the directive can be applied across the board. Students are advised to take note early, as this affects results going forward.
