WomenLift Health x WILAN Nigeria Leadership Journey 2026

Applications are now open for the WomenLift Health x WILAN Nigeria Leadership Journey 2026. This is a fully funded, 12-month programme for mid-career women working across public and global health in Nigeria.

The Leadership Journey offers a supportive setting where participants reflect on their leadership style, build confidence, and strengthen how they speak and lead. Women take part alongside peers, mentors, and coaches who share practical guidance and steady support.

The programme brings together women from different health roles and sectors. These include policy work, research, service delivery, and programme management. The aim is to help women leaders respond better to the shared health challenges facing communities today.

How the programme works

Participants take part in both physical and online learning activities across the year.

Learning sessions and support

  • Two in-person learning residencies called Immersion and Lift-Off
  • Online learning sessions spread across the programme
  • Group mentoring held online
  • One-to-one coaching sessions
  • A self-directed health leadership project

After completing the programme, participants become Global Fellows. Fellows join a long-term network that offers peer support at local, regional, and global levels.

Programme cost

The Leadership Journey is free. All programme costs are covered, including travel and accommodation for in-person sessions.

Who can apply

Applicants must meet all the conditions listed below:

  • Identify as a woman
  • Work in public health policy, practice, or research
  • Have 10 to 20 years of experience in public health
  • Live and work in Nigeria
  • Be a Nigerian citizen
  • Use written and spoken English confidently in reflective and group discussions
  • Live within West Africa Standard Time for at least 75 percent of the programme period

WomenLift Health aims to select participants from varied sectors. These include government, private sector, academia, non-profits, philanthropy, and research settings.

Programme dates

The 2026 Nigeria Leadership Journey runs from May 2026 to April 2027.

In-person sessions include:

  • Immersion: 20 to 22 July 2026
  • Lift-Off: 20 to 21 April 2027

All scheduled sessions must be attended. JourneyPLUS events are optional.
