Dr. Abayomi Olufemi Olajuyigbe has been appointed as the Acting Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, effective from 11th May, 2023. A distinguished academic, Olajuyigbe has held several administrative roles in the College since joining in 1997. His academic contributions are notable with over 30 publications in reputable journals.
The Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo has made a significant announcement regarding its leadership. The Governing Council has appointed Dr. Abayomi Olufemi Olajuyigbe as the Acting Provost of the College, effective from Thursday, 11th May, 2023.

An Esteemed Academic Career
Born in 1960, Dr. Olajuyigbe is a native of Efon Alaaye in Ekiti State. An accomplished academic, he currently holds the position of Chief Lecturer in the Department of Biology. His academic journey is impressive, holding a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Microbiology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, a Diploma in Computer Studies, and a PhD in Microbiology which he obtained in 2010.
His association with Adeyemi College began on 28th August 1997, when he joined the institution as a Lecturer II.
A Life Dedicated to Service
Throughout his tenure at the College, Dr. Olajuyigbe has served in multiple capacities, highlighting his dedication to service. His past roles include Deputy Provost, Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Ventures and Linkages, and Coordinator of the World Bank Sponsored Science and Technology Education Post Basic (STEP-B) Project. Additionally, he has held the position of Head of Department for Biology on multiple occasions.
Notably, Dr. Olajuyigbe is not new to the Provost’s office. He had previously served as Acting Provost of the College from 23rd June to 16th October 2014. He has also been a member of the College Governing Council at various times before his current appointment.
A Rich Body of Work
Dr. Olajuyigbe’s contribution to academia extends beyond his roles in administrative and academic leadership. He is a prolific researcher with over 30 publications in reputable international and local journals.
His commitment to his field is also evidenced by his membership in several professional associations including the Nigeria Society for Microbiology, World Aquaculture Society, Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, and Nigeria Society of Experimental Biology.
A Family Man
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Olajuyigbe is also a dedicated family man. He is married to Mrs. Adekemi Olajuyigbe, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of English at Adeyemi College. The couple is blessed with children.
