Important Information For UNILORIN 2015/2016 Graduands

Important Information for the University of Ilorin, UNILORIN 2015/2016 graduands regarding the university 31st convocation ceremonies.

This is to inform the 2015/2016 Graduands of the University that the 32nd Convocation Ceremonies will commence with a Jumat Service on Friday, 14th October 2016 and end on Sunday, 23rd October, 2016 with a Special Thanksgiving Service on the Main Campus of the University.

BRIEF FOR GRADUANDS
Graduands are please requested to note the following information:
i) The 2015/2016 academic session statutorily commenced August 17th and ended 6th September, 2016. All convoking graduands are advised to check their names on the list of graduands displayed on the University Website - www.unilorin.edu.ng
ii) Each graduand shall be allowed a maximum of two (2) guests. Invitation cards to such guests will be issued to graduands when they arrive to collect their academic outfits. Children will not be allowed into the University Auditorium.
iii) It is mandatory for all graduands to pay for the following items, except otherwise indicated, irrespective of whether or not they attend the convocation ceremony: 
a)*Purchase of Ph.D. Academic Gown (Mandatory for Ph.D. graduands) – (Prevailing cost)
b) *Purchase of Academic Outfits (First or Master’s Degree) (optional) – (Prevailing cost)
c) Hire of Academic Outfits (First or Master’s Degrees) N2,000.00 
d) Order of Proceedings N2,000:00
e.) Certificate Folder for PG N2,500.00
f.) Convocation Muffler N1,100.00
g.) Student copy of transcript (undergraduate) N5,500.00 
iv) Pursuant to (iii) above, the following categories of compulsory charges are available:
(a). Undergraduate: N
i. Hire of Academic Gown 2,000:00
ii. Order of Proceedings 2,000:00
iii. Student copy of transcript 5,500.00 iv. Muffler 1,100.00
v. Administrative Charges 1000:00
Total 11, 600:00

(b). Masters: N
i. Hire of Academic Gown 2,000:00
ii. Order of Proceedings 2,000:00
iii. Certificate Folder 2,500:00
iv. Administrative Charges 2,500:00
Total 9,000:00

(c). Ph.D.: N
i. Order of Proceedings 2,000:00
ii. Certificate Folder 2,500:00
iii. Administrative Charges 3,500:00

v) Order of Proceedings, and certificate scrolls will be available for collection immediately after the Convocation Lecture on Thursday, 20th October, 2016 in the respective faculties on presentation of evidence of payment of appropriate charges while the certificates shall be distributed on the convocation days at the Faculty and Postgraduate School.
vi) Graduands are expected to attend a rehearsal of the Academic Procession which will hold at 4.00 p.m. on Sunday, 16th October, 2016 in the premises of the University Auditorium.
vii) It is compulsory for all graduands who will attend the convocation ceremonies to participate in the Academic Procession and wear the approved academic outfits on the days of convocation.
viii) All graduands are expected to be formally dressed in full English wear (i.e. suit, shirt and tie for men and skirt suit/skirt and blouse or gown for ladies) OR full national dress.
ix) Graduands hiring academic gowns are expected to pay a refundable deposit of two thousand, five hundred Naira (N2,500.00) in cash to their Faculty Officers OR submit to their respective Faculty Officers a Guarantor Form duly completed by a staff member of the University. This payment is outside the non- refundable fee of N2,000.00 in (iiic) above, please.
x) All hired gowns should be returned by the graduands to their respective Faculty Officers not later than Monday 31st October, 2016. Gowns returned after that date will attract a fine of Fifty Naira (N50.00) per day.

MODE OF PAYMENT
i) Graduands should make their payment with Automated Teller Machine. The (ATM) cards acceptable for use are master and verve cards. Each graduand should ensure that the amount in their account is up to the value of the required convocation charges before login into the Unilorin portal for payment.
a) Based on (iv) (a – c) above, first degree graduands are to pay a total sum of eleven thousand, sixhundred Naira only (N11,600.00), Higher Degree graduands (excluding Ph.D.) ninethousand Naira (N9, 000.00) while Ph.D. graduands, are to pay the sum of eight thousandNaira (N8,000.00) only. Candidates would be expected to pay the prevailing bank charges in addition to these charges.
Payment for the Convocation materials in iii (a – h) above shall commence from
Monday 10th October, 2016. Graduands are advised to pay early so as to avoid last minute rush.

PROCUREMENT OF ACADEMIC GOWNS
Interested graduands are to note that while the purchase of the University’s academic gown is mandatory for Ph.D. graduands, it is optional for Master and first degree graduands. However, the latter groups are encouraged to acquire the gowns for personal use as a mark of permanent identification with the University of Ilorin.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
On arrival on the campus, all graduands are required to register as members with the University of Ilorin Alumni Association at the National Alumni Secretariat, University of Ilorin. The University encourages its Alumni to be committed to their alma mater. To this end, release of certificate is dependent on evidence of registration.
