Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Full-Time Postgraduate programmes as indicated below for the 2015/2016 academic session.
FACULTY OF ARTS
Department of English Studies
M.A. and Ph.D degree programmes in English Studies with the following specializations:
(a) Master of Arts (M.A.) English (Language)
(b) Master of Arts (M.A.) English (Literature)
(c) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D ) English (Language).
(d) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) English (Literature).
Admission Requirements:
(i) Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree
Candidates for admission into the M.A. degree programme in English (Language or Literature) must possess an honours degree in English (that is, not lower than Second Class (Honours) Lower Division) obtained from either this University or any other University recognized by Senate.
(ii) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree
Candidates for admission into the Ph.D degree programme in English (Language or Literature) must have attained a minimum aggregate grade of 60% at the Internal Memorandum
M.A Degree level, provided the M.A. degree was obtained from either this University or any other University recognized by Senate.
However, candidates who do not have a minimum aggregate grade of 60% in the M.A. degree examination as specified above, but have an aggregate score within the range of 55% to 59.9% shall be eligible for the M.Phil/Ph.D programme.
At the end of the first year, such candidates shall be eligible for conversion to the Ph.D programme if they score 60% and above in the course work.
Department of Linguistics and Languages
(a) M.A and Ph.D. in Linguistics with the following specializations:

(b) M.A and Ph.D. in Yoruba with the following specializations:
(i) Yoruba Language

Admission Requirements:
For M.A degree in Linguistics/Yoruba Language/Literature, candidate must possess a B.A or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko or any other University recognized by the Senate with at least a Second Class (Honours) Lower Division.
For a Doctoral degree programme, a candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Linguistics/Yoruba Language with a minimum of a Cumulative Grade of 60% and above.
Department of History & International Studies
M.A and Ph.D degree programmes available in the following areas of specializations:
(a) Political/Diplomatic History
(b) Cultural History
(c) Economic History
Admission Requirements
For candidates seeking admission into M.A. Programme, the minimum requirement is a B.A. Degree in History and International Studies of this University or B.A./B.A (Ed) History from any other recognized University with at least a Second Class (Honours) Lower Division.
For admission into the Ph.D Programme, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in History and International Studies with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
Department of Religion and African Culture
M.A. and Ph.D degree programmes in Religious Studies with the following specializations:
(e) Old Testament Studies

Admission Requirements:
B.A. Religious Studies with at least Second Class (Honours) Lower Division from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State or any other University recognized by the Senate.
For admission into the Ph.D Programme, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Religion Studies with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
FACULTY OF EDUCATION

Admission Requirements
For admission into the Master’s Degree programmes, candidates must have a First Degree of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, or any other University recognized by the Senate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, in relevant disciplines with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
For admission into the Ph.D programme in Language Education, candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Education/English with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
Department of Educational Management
M.Ed and Ph.D degree Programmes available in the following specializations:
(a) M.Ed Educational Management with areas of specialization in:

Requirements: First Degree in Education with a minimum of Second Class Honours Lower degree with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Government, Geography, Bookping & Account in SSCE or equivalent.

(ii) Economics of Education
(iii) Educational Planning and Policy
Requirements: M.Ed Degree in Educational Management with a Ph.D grade (4 points) in addition with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Government, Geography, Bookkee;ping and Account in SSCE or equivalent.
Department of Guidance and Counselling
(1) M.Ed and Ph.D degree Programmes in Guidance and Counselling with the following specializations:
(a) Career Counselling
(b) Educational and School Counselling
(c) Adolescent and Youth Counselling
(d) Marriage and Family Life Counselling
(2) M.Ed and Ph.D in Tests and Measurements
Admission Requirements:
For admission into M.Ed programme, candidates are to possess a minimum of B.Ed or equivalent First Degree not below the Second Lower Division plus PGDE at credit or merit level as the case may be.
For Doctoral Degree Programmes, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling/Test and Measurement with at least Cumulative Grade of 60% or above. From this University or any other University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko, Ondo State.
Department of Science and Technical Education
M.Ed and Ph.D degree Programmes in Science and Technical Education:
(a) M.Ed in Science Education
(b) Ph.D in Science Education
Admission Requirements
As provided in the Postgraduate regulations of the University. For admission into the Ph.D Programme, candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Science Education, and any other relevant discipline in Education with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% or above.
Postgraduate Diploma in Education
For PGDE Programme, candidates with Third Class Degree or HND holders with Upper Credit and substantial teaching experience may be considered. All disciplines are acceptable for admission into PGDE.

Admission Requirements
The following shall be eligible for admission into the degree of Master of Laws:
(i) A holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree of the Adekunle Ajasin University, with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division).
(ii) A holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with Third Class and Postgraduate Diploma in law may be considered for admission into the
LLM degree.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE
Department of Chemical Sciences
M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees are available in the following areas of specialization:

Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into M.Sc Programme should have a B.Sc. Chemistry degree of this University or any other University not lower than Second Class Lower Division, while those seeking admission into Ph.D Programme must possess an M.Sc. with an average Cumulative Grade of 60%.
Department of Earth Sciences
(a) M. Sc and Ph.D Degrees with the following specializations:

(b) Professional Master’s Degree with the following specializations:
(i) Master of Exploration Geophysics (MEG)

(iii) Master of Mineral Exploration (MME)
(iv) Master of Petroleum Exploration (MPE)
(v) Master of Mining Geology (MMG)
Admission Requirements:
(i) M.Sc Applied Geophysics is open to graduates of Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Geology and Land Surveying who earned minimum of 2nd Class Honours (Lower Division) in the first degree in the relevant fields. Candidates with their first degree in Geology, Engineering and Surveying are expected to have studied Mathematics or Physics and preferably both, up to 200-level. Candidates with their first degrees in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Surveying would be expected to have taken some undergraduate courses in Geology, if not, on admission, they would take some recommended courses in Geology.
(ii) M.Sc Geology is open to graduates in Geology only with, at least, 2nd Class Honours (Lower Division) in the first degree in Geology.
(iii) Professional Master’s Degree Programmes : The Professional Master’s Degree is open to graduates who earned minimum of 3rd Class Honours in the first degree or HND at Upper Credit level in relevant fields.
(iv) Doctoral Degree (In Geology or Geophysics): Candidate applying should specify the programme of choice (either Geology or Geophysics). Prospective candidates must possess a Master of Science degree with an average score of not less than 60% or a minimum CGPA of 3.5 credit units in the programme of choice. Candidates with Master of Philosophy degree in the Programme of choice from any recognized University will also be
considered. The Master’s degree must have thesis component. The additional requirement is that a candidate applying for a Ph.D Programme should normally possess a first degree in the related basic field.
Department of Environmental Biology and Fisheries.
M.Sc and Ph.D in the following specializations:
M.Sc. Fisheries Management
M.Sc. Applied Parasitology
Ph.D Fisheries Management
Admission Requirements:
B.Sc. with a Second Class Lower Division in Environmental Biology, Fisheries, Zoology, Agriculture, Parasitology, Microbiology or any other related discipline recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc degree in Fisheries or related discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade of 60% and above.
Department of Microbiology
M.Sc and Ph.D in Microbiology with the following specializations;
(i) Food and Industrial Microbiology option
(ii) Environmental Microbiology option
(iii) Medical Microbiology option
(iv) Ph.D (in all areas of Microbiology)
Admission Requirements:
(a) For the M.Sc. Degree a good honours degree in Microbiology or related fields but not below Second Class Lower Division. The related fields like Agriculture, Biology, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Food Science, Public Health, Pharmacy and Medicine. Where necessary, undergraduate deficiency may have to be made up by offerings remedial courses without credit.
(b) For the Ph.D degree, a candidate must have scored at least 60% or its equivalent in a Master’s degree of this or other Universities recognized by Senate.
Department of Physics And Electronics
M.Sc and Ph.D degrees are available in the following specializations:
(i) Radiation and Health Physics
(ii) Solid State Physics
(iii) Theoretical Physics
(iv) Electronic Measurement and Instrumentation
(i) Biophysics
(ii) Applied Geophysics
(iii) Space Physics
Admission Requirements:
B.Sc in Physics or Electronics Engineering with Second Class (Honours) Lower Division for M.Sc, while candidates for Ph.D require an average of 60% Cumulative Point for Ph.D degree.
Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology
M.Sc – Plant Science & Biotechnology with the following specializations:
(a) Plant Biotechnology
(b) Plant Physiology
(c) Plant Ecology
(d) Plant Taxonomy/Anatomy
(e) Plant Pathology
(f) Genetics
(g) Palynology
Ph.D – Plant Science & Biotechnology with the following specializations:
(a) Plant Biotechnology
(b) Plant Physiology
(c) Plant Ecology
(d) Plant Pathology
(e) Palynology
Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into M.Sc programme should have a B.Sc in any related discipline from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko or any other University recognized by the Senate with a minimum of Second Class (Honours)
Lower Division.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc degree in any other related disciplines with a minimum cumulative grade 60% and above.
FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
Department of Banking and Finance
M.Sc and Ph.D programmes in Banking and Finance.
Admission Requirements
For admission into M.Sc programme, candidates are to possess a minimum of B.Sc degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration not below the Second Class of Adekunle Ajasin University,
Akungba- Akoko or any other University recognized by the Senate. Candidates will be required to undergo a selection process that will include a written qualifying examination.
For Doctoral degree programme, candidates must possess either M.Sc or M.Phil in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or any other related discipline in Management Sciences with a minimum weighted Average Scores of 60% and above.
Department of Business Administration
M.Sc Programme in Business Administration with following specializations:
(i) Management
(ii) Marketing
(iii) Human Resources
(iv) Operations Research
Admission Requirements:
The following will be eligible to seek admission into the programmes:
(i) Graduate of Adekunle Ajasin University or any other approved University with degree of Bachelor in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Operation Research, Industrial Mathematics, and at least a Second Class (Lower) Honours or its equivalent.
(ii) Those who hold a PGD Management of the Adekunle Ajasin University or its equivalent.
(iii) Those who hold an MBA of the Adekunle Ajasin University or any other approved University.
Department of Economics
M.Sc Degree in Economics.
Admission Requirements:
The basic requirement is B.Sc Economics with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division from any University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko, with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division from any recognized University.
In addition, the candidate must possess a minimum of credit passes in at least five subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Government, Geography, Accounting, Commerce and History.
Department of Geography and Planning Sciences
M.Sc. and Ph.D Programmes with the following specializations:
A. Physical Geography:
(i) Environmental Science and Resource Management
(ii) Climatology and Water Resources Management
(iii) Geomorphology and Environmental Management
B. Human Geography
(i) Remote Sensing and Geographic Information system (GIS)
(ii) Hydrology and Water Resources Management
(iii) Land Use and Natural Resources Management

Admission Requirements:
An M.Sc of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, in Geography and Planning Sciences not below Second Class (Honours) Lower Division or those of any other University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko.
For admission into Doctoral Degree, candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Geography or related fields acceptable to the University Senate with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
Department of Political Science and Public Administration
M.Sc and Ph.D degrees are available in the following areas of specializations:
M.Sc. and Ph.D in Political Sciences:
(a) Comparative Politics
(b) International Relations
M.Sc and Ph.D in Public Administration:
(c) Public Administration
Admission Requirements:
B.Sc. in Political Science or Public Administration with a minimum of Second Class
(Honours) Lower Division from any recognized university.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc. in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Administration from a recognized University with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
Department of Pure and Applied Psychology
M.Sc and Ph.D in Psychology with the following specializations:
(i) Industrial/Organizational Psychology
(ii) Clinical Psychology
(iii) Social Psychology
(iv) Developmental Psychology
Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into Master’s Degree programme of the Department of Pure and Applied Psychology must possess 5 credits in ‘O’ Level including English and Biology. In addition to satisfying the Postgraduate
Admission Requirement, the Department requires that candidates for admission into the M.Sc. Psychology programme of the Department should possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minimum of Second Class (Honours) Lower Division. Admission into M.Sc Degree Programmes is opened to graduates
of this university and any other University recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc in Psychology from a
recognized University with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
Department of Sociology
M.Sc and Ph.D degree programmes in the following areas of specializations:
(i) Medical Sociology
(ii) Criminology & Security Studies
(iii) Industrial Sociology
Admission Requirements
The minimum requirement for the M.Sc. programme is a Second Class Honours Lower Division in Sociology and/or Anthropology from Adekunle Ajasin University or any other university recognized by the Senate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko. The candidate should possess a credit pass in WAEC/SSCE/AL
in English Language, Mathematics and Government plus any other two subjects, which must either be in the Arts or Social Sciences.
Candidates for the Doctoral Degree must have M.Sc in Sociology and/or Anthropology from a recognized University with at least 60% Cumulative Grade Point Average.
METHODS OF APPLICATION
Candidates are required to pay through E-transact at the following Banks: Access, Skye, Wema, First, Zenith or Keystone Bank for a sum of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) and log on to our website at www.aaua.edu.ng to complete the application form, submit and print a copy to be able to sit for the qualifying examination at a date to be announced later.
Candidates are required to submit a copy of the printed application form to their intended Departments and two copies to the Postgraduate School.
Duration of Programmes:
The Postgraduate Diploma programme takes a Minimum of one year (two Semesters) and a maximum of two years (4 Semesters) for full-time candidates.
All Master’s degree programmes take a minimum of a year and half (three Semesters) and a maximum of three years (Six semesters) for full-time students.
All Doctoral Degree programmes take a minimum of three years (Six semesters)
and a maximum of four years (Eight Semesters) for full-time students.
All Master’s Degree Programmes offered in the Institute of Education (Sandwich Programmes) shall take a minimum of three Contact Sessions and a maximum of four Contact Sessions.
In addition to the admission requirements, every candidate in regular employment must submit with his/her application, a formal letter of release for Postgraduate Studies issued by his/her employer.
Furthermore, all applicants who are not graduates of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko, must request their former Universities or Institutions to forward directly to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, the academic transcripts of their first degrees or Master’s degree, with respect to applicants for Masters and Doctoral Degrees respectively.
Note: Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko shall offer admission to any interested candidate(s) within the range of 55% – 59.9% at the Master level for the M.Phil/Ph.D programme.
