The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has received clearance from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to launch twelve brand‑new full‑time bachelor programmes beginning the 2026/2027 academic year.

The addition expands UNN’s curriculum into engineering, nuclear studies, health sciences, education and information technology, addressing emerging and specialised sectors.

The approved courses are:

• Automotive Engineering
• Nuclear Engineering
• Nuclear Science
• Pharmacology
• Optometry
• Health Care Administration and Hospital Management
• Educational Management
• Cyber Security
• Artificial Intelligence
• Data Science
• Software Engineering
• Information Technology

Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya praised the sanction, describing it as a pivotal step toward widening university access and strengthening UNN’s capacity to respond to a fast‑changing global landscape.

He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to mobilise the necessary human and material resources so the programmes can be delivered in line with NUC standards.
