The University of Abuja, now operating under the name Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, has issued a warning to students, graduates and the general public about making cash payments to private individuals for the processing of academic records and admission applications.
In an official notice, the university clarified that it does not accept cash for handling transcripts, statements of results, certificates, undergraduate or postgraduate admission applications, or any other academic documents.
The management stressed that all fees and applications must be submitted solely through the university’s official online portal.
Students and alumni were also cautioned against paying any individual or staff member who claims to be able to fast‑track or assist with the processing of academic paperwork.
The notice further warned that the institution will not be held responsible for any financial loss incurred by persons dealing with unauthorized parties.
The administration urged every student, graduate and member of the public to adhere strictly to the directive and to use only the university’s portal for all payments and academic transactions, thereby avoiding fraud.
