The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE) has pushed back the start of the first semester for the 2026/2027 academic year because of the Ebola virus disease cases emerging in several regions of Nigeria.
The notice, dated October 22, 2026, was signed by the university’s Registrar, Barr. (Dr.) Chris Igbokwe.
It states that the previously planned commencement on Monday, October 26, 2026, is now suspended indefinitely pending further notice.
University officials said the measure is essential to keep a close watch on the evolving Ebola situation and to protect the health of the student body.
A revised start date will be announced in due time.
In the meantime, students are urged to follow Ebola prevention guidelines while at home, such as regular hand washing, avoiding close contact with others, and steering clear of crowded venues.
The institution apologised for any inconvenience the delay may cause to learners, their families, and staff members.
