The Students' Representative Assembly (SRA) of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBUL), Lapai, has taken a stern stance against the unauthorized resale of university hostel bed spaces, issuing a warning to students to cease the practice immediately.
In a statement released on January 12, 2026, the Assembly strongly condemned the illegal resale of hostel spaces, emphasizing that it constitutes a serious breach of university regulations and undermines fair access to on-campus accommodation. The SRA noted that some students have been reselling allocated bed spaces to others without obtaining the necessary approval from the appropriate authorities.
The directive serves as a final warning to all students, urging them to desist from engaging in the resale of hostel bed spaces. The Assembly made it clear that any student found to be involved in this practice will face severe disciplinary actions, in accordance with the university's rules. The statement was jointly signed by the Speaker of the Students' Representative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Abdullahi, and the Senate Clerk, Sen. Mohammed Abubakar.
The SRA is urging students to comply fully with the accommodation guidelines and to report any suspected cases of illegal bed space resale, in order to maintain fairness and order within the university hostel system.
