Management has received reports of reckless motorcycle riding by students on campus and within the Osara community. This includes excessive speeding, non-compliance to safety rules, and rudeness to residents when corrected.
Tragic consequences have resulted from this trend, including the recent death of Ibrahim Muhammed Jamiu, a 300L Civil Engineering student, following an accident near Dosam Clinic, FCE Okene. A prior incident involved a student rider injuring an Osara resident, who later died after prolonged hospitalization.
In response, the following directives are mandatory: 1. The approved speed limit of 25 km/hr on and off campus must be adhered to, with violators facing severe punishment. 2. Motorcycles must be parked only in designated areas. 3. Motorcycles parked indiscriminately will be impounded without notice.
Students are warned that continued violation of these rules may lead to a total ban on motorcycle use by students. All students must act safely and responsibly, maintaining good relations with the host community. It is essential to value your life and the safety of others, and to be guided accordingly.
