The University Community has been informed that traditional cleansing rites are taking place in Awa-Ijebu from Friday, 24th to Tuesday, 28th April 2026. These rites will be held between 11:00 p.m and 4:00 a.m each day.
A release from the Palace of Limeri of Awa, His Royal Highness, Alayeluwa Oba Abib A. Awobajo, warns the public, including both indigenes and non-indigenes, to remain indoors during the specified hours. This means that both human and vehicular movements are restricted within and around Awa-Ijebu Community during this period.
In light of this, all University Community members, particularly staff and students residing in Awa-Ijebu and its environs, are advised to prioritize their safety and respect the community's tradition by complying with the movement restrictions during the specified hours each day.
