The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti (FUTES-IYIN) has issued a statement regarding a video circulating on social media. The video allegedly links the University to an 'end of examination party'.
The University categorically denies any connection to the event, stating that no such party was organized or approved by Management. Preliminary investigations reveal that the event was held at a private lounge/bar in the host community, outside University premises, without the knowledge or involvement of University authorities.
The Management of FUTES-IYIN strongly condemns the immoral conduct displayed in the video, as it violates the institution's values and standards. To mitigate negative external influences, the University is developing a fully residential campus system to promote discipline, positive culture, and a controlled academic environment.
The University community and the public are informed that students are currently on semester break after completing the First Semester Examinations. Many students have travelled, leaving only a few on or around campus. It is essential to note that many individuals in the video are not University students but youths from the host community.
FUTES-IYIN prioritizes discipline, character, and its public image, and will not tolerate any act that could tarnish its reputation. The Management will take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again and urges the public to disregard misleading information about the University's involvement.
The University appreciates the public's understanding in this matter.
