The Senate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has approved the creation of three separate faculties from the existing Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences. This decision aims to enhance academic administration, promote specialization, and improve the delivery of quality education.
The approval was given at the 140th Regular Meeting of Senate, held on Monday, 25th May, 2026. According to an official memorandum, the new faculties are: Faculty of Computing, Faculty of Life Sciences, and Faculty of Physical Sciences.
The restructuring is intended to align the university's academic programs with global trends and best practices in higher education. It provides a more focused framework for teaching, research, innovation, and capacity development.
As part of the restructuring, the Department of Statistics and Data Analytics has been reassigned to the Faculty of Computing. This move recognizes the department's growing relevance to data science, computing, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies.
The approved recommendations have been forwarded to the University's Governing Council for further consideration and approval. This development marks a significant milestone in the university's drive towards academic excellence, innovation, and growth, and is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
